CNN: Report that Clinton wants to give Obama 7 days to select her as VP
One response was to give her 6 1/2 days back. This is getting ridiculous.

6. here from the WSJ
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Clinton, who refused to concede after Sen. Barack Obama claimed the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, will do so Friday, two top advisers said. Close supporters suggested she would like to be his running mate, on a unity ticket.

But close advisers to Sen. Obama signaled an Obama-Clinton ticket was highly unlikely. People in both camps cited what several called "a deal-breaker" -- Bill Clinton may balk at releasing records of his business dealings and big donors to his presidential library.

43. And I'm sure I just saw a thread a few minutes ago saying
that Hillary did not want the VP slot. I think I'll wait until there is some sort of verifiable announcement made. It sounds like so much rumor to me right now.

49. CNN just read a statement from the "Clinton Campaign"
that didn't mince words. Said she didn't want the VP slot. Can't remember it exactly, but they had the exact words on the screen and there were no waffle words.

But who knows? Probably will be different in an hour...then tomorrow...then Saturday. It feels that there is much confusion and a complete lack of direction in the clinton camp right now, otherwise there would be someone responsible placed in charge of leading the pack. I know Hillary is having a hard time with the campaign ending, but she needs to stay in the leader position until this is wrapped up, not neglecting those responsibilities.

She was planning to run the country, so she should know how to properly delegate and quickly get a handle on rouge campaign workers. Instead, this is a whole lot of chaos and decision by default.

She wanted the 1 on 1 meeting for some reason. It seems to be all collapsing, and she MAY endorse Obama on Friday.

50. She truly is delusional. The loser doesn't "pressure" the victor for anything...
I am really concerned about her orientation in reality. One of her supporters (guest on MSNBC) said that Hillary didn't realize until yesterday that she had lost and would have to endorse Obama. There have been other comments by people close to her that indicate that she is not connected to the same reality the rest of us operate in.

If I was a New Yorker, I'd be very worried about what she's doing in the Senate. I don't think she's competent at this time to adeqately represent her constituents.

16. Obama should give her 6 days to concede & endorse him.
Then require her to shut up for 30 days while he looks for a VP. No speeches, no press conferences, no interviews for her, her husband or her surrogates for 30 days.

If she complies to his satisfaction, she MIGHT be considered for VP - but only if they can't find anyone better.

The loser doesn't get to dictate terms.

32. Here's the transcript...
Not sure if the 'you' you refer to is me, but, I don't make things up.

DOBBS: You know, John Fund of "Opinion Journal" reported today that she is -- that her campaign had, in effect, told the Obama campaign they had a week to decide whether or not they wanted her to be vice president. I mean, that's sort of straightforward even in the most bleak fashions. ED ROLLINS, REPUBLICAN STRATEGIST: It is. I give them six and a half days back, because I would have already made the decision. You know -- it's now Barack Obama's party. He can do whatever he wants. He has this party until November. And if he wins the presidency, he's got it for the foreseeable future.

As long as we remain focused on the Clinton/Obama drama, the general public is not focused on learning about Obama and our issues. Clinton is smart enough to know that he will not choose a VP for several weeks.

58. TPM's Election Central has some info on the behind the scenes stuff
The Hillary camp -- perhaps sensing that all the calls from Hillary supporters for her to be made Veep are now hurting more than helping -- moves to distance itself from all such efforts by sending out this statement from Hillary spokesperson Howard Wolfson...

"While Senator Clinton has made clear throughout this process that she will do whatever she can to elect a Democrat to the White House, she is not seeking the vice presidency, and no one speaks for her but her. The choice here is Senator Obama's and his alone."

This was probably made necessary by the fact that VoteBoth, a group devoted to bringing about an Obama-Hillary ticket, announced today that senior adviser Lanny Davis had joined its effort.

Of course, it's perfectly likely that figures like Davis -- and many other Clinton supporters calling for her to be made Veep -- are acting independently here. The problem, however, is that it doesn't look like this is the case. And that's the rub, since any perception that Hillary is trying to force Obama's hand through whatever channels only makes the possibility that he'll offer the slot to her more remote.

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/hillary_spokesperson_veep_choi.php

Hillary wants it badly. She's not gonna get it.
