*** REC THIS THREAD IF HILLARY SHOULD BE THE VP ***
It's very simple: Obama and Clinton each got about 50% of the votes this primary season.

The surest way to unifying the party and putting our sometimes messy coalition together is to put Obama and Clinton on the same ticket.

Picking Hillary might be hard to stomach for some, but that is the essence of compromise, and it will help us all win in November.

be cut loose in the WH...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/04/wsj-clinton-used-expletiv_n_105161.html

Before South Carolina's primary, Mr. Clyburn admonished Sen. Clinton for suggesting President Johnson deserved more credit than Martin Luther King Jr. for civil-rights laws. On primary night, Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn and they spoke for 50 minutes. "Let's just say it wasn't pleasant," Mr. Clyburn says.

Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn an expletive, say Democrats familiar with the exchange. Mr. Clyburn's office would confirm only that the former president used "offensive" words. Some day soon, the congressman says, he'll write about the incident. On Tuesday, he endorsed Mr. Obama for president.

27. WOW.
I had not seen this.

How DARE they speak to Clyburn this way? He did a great thing for them by holding back his endorsement this long. Now he is supporting the candidate he truly believes to be best for the nation and the candidate who is now our presumptive nominee - as all superdelegates should do.

I can't believe they are treating people this way!

31. Hillary farted on Obama and now the GOP are using it for attack ads:

No One Could Have Predicted

By: John Cole at Balloon Juice June 3, 2008

This would happen:

Hours before the polls closed Tuesday in the final two Democratic presidential primaries, the Republican National Committee began circulating a video of Hillary Clinton questioning Barack Obama’s qualifications to be commander-in-chief, and acknowledging John McCain has this important presidential credential.

***

“And I think it is imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold. And I believe I have done that. Certainly, Senator McCain has done that. And you will have to ask Senator Obama with respect to his candidacy.”

The RNC posted the video on YouTube early Tuesday afternoon, just as Obama was on the verge of locking up the Democratic nomination and speculation heated up about Clinton being his running mate.

Tonight, South Dakota and Montana Democrats hold the final two contests of the primary season. Obama is expected to secure the support of enough delegates to claim the party’s presidential nomination as early as tonight, and but no later than the end of this week.

An RNC official tells CNN to expect to see more of Republicans highlighting Clinton’s critical comments of Obama as the campaign now turns to the general election phase.

“We will use it repeatedly,” the official said.

Thanks, Hillary!

But then again, she doesn’t care. This is all about her.

10. Well if we think she is doing a good job of supporting Obama and
talking him up to her people then its at least a glimmer of a consideration.

Look at how she treats him and ask yourself if you'd like someone who behaved like that stuck with you for 8 years.

14. After Hillary's speech last night, I have to say NO. If she couldn't
be gracious in defeat and attempt to unify the party, she is not worthy of the office of VP.

I had been okay with her in that role IF Obama wanted her. I am NOT okay with her in that role if she thinks she can strong arm her way into it.

I was horrified with her last night.

17. My understanding is that Obama has indicated that as President he might investigate Bush crimes
My suspicion is that Hillary wouldn't.

Thus if Hillary were VP, the Bushcists would be very highly motivated
to remove Obama by any means necessary.

Hillary as VP--very bad idea.

The surest way to unify the party is for Hillary supporters to extract their heads from their bungholes and support the Democratic nominee.

It will be a detriment if it looks like she was able to strong-arm her way on to the ticket, which is basically what she is trying to do.

Obama won. He doesn't need to "compromise." Hillary is not Vice President material and I'm with President Carter...it would be a HUGE mistake.

Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 12:40 PM by Marrah_G
Recommend is really meant for outstanding posts not as popularity contests, ego stroking or attention.

These sort of posts "rec me if you XXXXXX" are getting obnoxious and my post is aimed at all of them.... yours just got lucky enough to be my immediate target.

I believe I speak for a good portion of DU when I say " Asking for a Rec is the best way NOT to get one"
