Statement from Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, and DGA Chair Joe Manchin
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 08:56 AM by Jersey Devil
Just released this morning, Wednesday, June 4 per TPM

"We have come to the end of an exciting primary and caucus process -- the voters have spoken...(snip)

"Democrats must now turn our full attention to the general election. To that end, we are urging all remaining uncommitted super delegates to make their decisions known by Friday of this week so that our party can stand united and begin our march toward reversing the eight years of failed Bush/McCain policies that have weakened our country."

They are not going to put up with it. Now let's see if these spineless uncommitted superdelegates go to bat for the Democratic Party.

2. According to demconwatch...
...there are still 143 (and a half) unpledged superdelegates. WTF? 143? What are they waiting for? Is the Clinton stranglehold on the party that tight?

3. Not really 143
33 of those are add-ons that haven't been selected yet.

There are a couple of Obama supers that DCW isn't counting yet...

My count is 106.5 remaining. Still shit, though.

6. I would bet it is..
perhaps this is exactly why she won't give in...IF they all came out for her, could she be close enough that by convention time, she might be able to take it away from him, if she managed to switch any of the ones who already declared for him?(they can switch any time, right up to and including the convention, right?)...I can't believe she would have gone into that kind of debt, or refused to concede if she didn't have a plan...I wonder if she wants the nomination so bad that she would destroy our chances of winning the election, just to have it? I am getting a bit of a sick feeling about the whole thing, but I seriously don't know...what does anyone else think.. wb

ps: months ago, I said that none of us really knew HC, that we just thought we did, so naturally, I find how she's acting, quite interesting..

7. The number was 2025 and he has that many
Plus some, and she doesn't

It's over.

They might want to quibble with the rules committee or whatever but they are just hoisting themselves by their own petard.

Jon Steward had Terry McAulliffe on last night and just laughed and laughed at him.

9. Yes, I saw that later on...
he had 2184 when I last looked...and now we hear she's getting out of the race, so things should quiet down some...I wish she had conceded with grace, and given him his due...but apparently it just couldn't be that way...I sincerely hope this IS at it's end, for everyone's sake...wb

4. Blue Dog Democrats make a proportion of them
Who try not to associate themselves too closely with the party because of the districts/states they are in.

They want to make the endorsement quietly so that it doesn't get headlines in their districts.
