Question: Why does Hillary want to be VP?
I understood why Edwards wanted to be VP in 2004.

He was out of the Senate. It's a national position. And it automatically makes you the front runner 8 years later.

Why does Hillary want it?

It's a shiity job.
She can't be more "national" than she is now.
There are fewer more prominent jobs than Senator from NY.
Is she really going to run in 2016 when she will be 68?

I really don't get it.

3. Some more....

1. She can work behind the scenes for 4 years to get Obama impeached

2. She can hope that the target she put on his back (the "assassination" comments) comes to fruition.

Yeah... I'm not afraid to say it.

She's that power-mad.

56. In fact it wasn't
It was more of a "you can get hit by a car crossing the street" remark. That there is always a risk when leaving the house. It was not tied to Obama, the political candidate. It was dismissive of the idea.

21. Because now
She can bring it out "she will accept" the VP slot, and if he says no, her radical supporters will go crazy, and keep this crap going all summer, which in turn could help McCain. And we all know that if Obama doesn't win in November, Hillary will be running again in 2012.

If Hillary is on the ticket, Obama's odds go down because it will rally the republican base to get out and vote like nothing else will. Republicans that were read to cross over and vote Obama will not do so if Hillary is on the ticket. Independents who would have voted for Obama because of his stand on the Iraq war, will not vote for him with Hillary on the ticket.

It's all calculated to help her, nothing else matters in their world!

desperately need to get some fresh air, as exposure to GDP has numbed your brains. Clinton is not a murderer. She did not kill Vince Foster, either.

39. Look, I don't even know who Vince Foster is.
And I don't think Clinton would murder Obama to be president. However, if you believe the thought that someone else might would never cross her mind, you're a little naive.

45. Well for one thing I should've
put that post in response to the OP, because there are other posts that suggest far more than yours did. Mea culpa on that. But even though I've sometimes been disquieted by her campaign, I don't attribute the malice to her that so many do. I don't think her plan is to step into the Oval Office over Obama's body, whether by her hand or someone else's. It isn't naivete, but a disagreement with the way some here view her character.

33. Because she believes Obama will win.
That is the only possible reason. She thinks Obama will win and she thinks he will be president for 8 years and basically this is her only shot at national office.

If she thought Obama was going to lose, she would stay off the ticket, since being the losing VP candidate doesn't set you up very well to run for president yourself (ask John Edwards if you don't believe me). And if she thought Obama would win but then fail as president to the point where he was vulnerable in 2012, she'd be screwing herself because, as part of the administration, she would be in a difficult position to run against Obama. She'd be better off outside, looking for an opportunity to take the nomination away from an incumbent Obama (a la Kennedy going after Carter).

So basically, if she really wants onto the ticket, it reflects her wagering that Obama is going to win and he's going to be reelected.

37. She thinks she won't get the spot, Hillary supporters will thus get angry...
...and not vote for Obama, he will lose, and then she can run again in 2012. She is still employing the Tonya Harding strategy. Most people don't announce that they'd like to be VP.
