Hey Hillary. You don't get to be Obama's VP. He has to offer it to you.
It's his call and if he decides to offer it to you then you can accept it. This isn't a consolation prize that is owed to you for coming in second.
I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that there's not a detailed story up yet with her exact quote, but based on what is available to me at this point, I don't like the tone.
And why is that? Because she supports universal health care? Because she's perceived as being liberal? Because the right-wing machine vilified her and her husband for 15 years? That same machine that is poised to do the same with Obama?
6. Like everything, there are good answers and bad answers to questions
A good answer would have been "Well that's an interesting question. First off, I think it's a little early to be talking about that since I'm still currently running for president, not VP. But if I were to be offered the position I would certainly give it its due consideration."
The right answer is concise so it can't be misconstrued. Actually, in the past, your answer WAS what she said. So what if she said she'd accept it? She was asked. Jeez.
19. YES, DU is a perfect example of how easy it is to feed the rumor mill...
How many posts are currently on the front page of GD :P making it seem like Clinton came out and publically made a statement asking for Obama to pick her as VP. She was simply asked if she'd consider it and she said yes. The media has taken it and run with it and here people are acting as if she is in charge of the news cycle.
If she had said no, then everyone would be screaming about what a racist she is or how she's unwilling to work for a man or whatever.
24. It would have been much worse if she'd said she wouldn't consider it
Heads would be exploding and divisions would be widening. It all seems like such a waste of energy to me.
I agree with you regarding GD:P <----- I love how that happens! What makes a rumor dangerous is that most people don't look deeper than the surface of what they head (or thought they heard) before they form an opinion of their own.
Several months ago a talking head on TV called any Presidential ballot that had both Obama and Hillary on it the "suicide ticket".
Obama will have a hard time running a campaign based on "change" with Hillary and Bill standing behind him. Far better to offer her an important cabinet position such as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
