Those are the results of today's www.electoral-vote.com map.

The map counts only the most recent polls.

5. "Interesting?"

The reason I said it like that because I was thinking yesterday that this would be a good day for Kerry and this seemed to verify that thought.

3. Well, I wouldn't say it only counts most recent...
Because there are states with poll data that is months old. Some states have poll data from before the primaries. Some don't even have poll data from 2004 at all. But, pretty much all the states that fall into that category are solid bush anyway. It IS a great site though.

4. It's because those polls ARE the most recent.
People are only really polling the battleground states. States like Alabama or Wyoming get ignored.

6. That's true
You are correct. I really wonder how Kerry is doing in some of those states though.

7. Sorry, but this is bullshit
This site greatly exagerrates swings in public opinion by making no distinction in its electoral vote tallies as to whether or not a candidate's lead in polls is greater than the margin of error.

9. It does.

If a person is leading a state within the margin of error, the state is listed as a weak Bush/Kerry state. By simply waving your mouse over a state, you can see which poll they used. Most data comes from pollingreport.com

8. I'm in Ohio...I was wearing my "Real Deal" shirt, today
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 05:00 PM by JohnnyRingo
I had a young girl (about 19yrs) tell me "nice shirt". As usual I asked if she was registered. She replied that she just did this year.

This has been a trend I've noticed in recent months, young people are finding motivation in Buxh's prospect of endless war and jobless economy.

Even my youngest son, who leans repub (and I thought was already registered), came over yesterday and asked me to go online to register him as a democrat. He said he's had it with Buxh.

I'm sure this scenario is playing out nationwide, while the repubs are scratching their heads looking for unregistered masses.

I don't think they'll find them, and the youth vote will overwhelm GW's chances for another term.
(Even though they've enlisted Pat Boone to reach out to the kids)

My point is that I don't think the polls are taking these new registrants into account.

10. I had a similar experience yesterday. I was checking out at a
grocery and this pretty young lady said she liked my shirt. (The one I had on was the Gore/Bush 2000 totals, a DU present from my daughter.) I asked her if she were registered and she said yes and that this is her first year to vote. She has gotten an absentee ballot because she is taking off for college.
