Ladies and gentlemen I give you my ideal Democratic ticket for 2008
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 09:58 AM by wndycty
Hat tip to AllexxisF1 for the photoshop logo that I lifted:

Tell me this is not the ticket!

On edit for those saying its not the ticket understand how well they compliment each other. Clark's foreign policy/military background combined with the fact that due to the fact he served as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO Clark is a former head of state.

Both are extremely smart, Clark is a fighter (we don't call him General Smackdown for nothing). Clark compliments Obama so well.

The only other ticket that works as well would be Obama Richardson. Again think foreign policy experience and executive experience.

I supported Clark 2004, not the ticket in 2008
He has made no motion forward since his failed campaign.

7. Yes
Clark can take down McCain on the military front. He is also a former Independent.

10. No, it is not the ticket. Obama/Schweitzer FTW!
I believe Obama will win the GE by a minimum of 4 points regardless of his VP (except Clinton, Kerry or Gore).

With Schweitzer on the ticket, I think we get an 8%-12% win.

I think it would be an unbeatable team.

Also, Clark is a Clinton loyalist which to me is an awesome olive branch.

21. Well, he's lived in Saudi Arabia for 5 years...speaks Arabic...
...from the interviews I've seen, he has a real understanding of how to deal with global issues.

Apart from disentangling ourselves from the war in Iraq, I think more Americans care about the economy and energy independence than nebulous "foreign policy experience" anyway.

14. My problem
is there are bound to be damaging quotes from Clark towards Obama's readiness to be Commander-in-Chief. I wouldn't expect otherwise from Hillary's top national security surrogate. Two, Clark is still very green in a number of ways.

26. Plus Obama's message is that JUDGMENT is the most important factor for commander-in-chief,
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 10:18 AM by Skwmom
not military experience (that's what you have a secretary of defense for). The American Public just needs to believe that the VP would keep them safe if he/she had to step in the role of commander-in-chief. And where the Democrats get it wrong is thinking that means resume. No it means perception.

He should pick Schweitzer b/c that ticket would be like a breath of fresh air, he would help to positively define Obama (not another phony politician, etc.), and looking at him you can only think, yeah he would keep this nation safe. Plus, he will appeal to older women voters (my Mom LOVES him). And also, he will be able to hammer the GOP without turning off voters.

Obama/Schweitzer would be an exciting ticket and would win in a landslide.

Please, please, please don't pick someone that the GOP can use to negatively define Obama. Obama needs someone who doesn't come across as another politician but able to keep this nation safe if they needed to assume the role of CIC. The Clintons and GOP have already put this out there and it will be on the minds of voters.

22. Lots of reasons why it may not happen. That's not one though
Geerge Herbert Walker "Voo Doo Economics" Bush ended up as Reagan's VP. Men who not only supported Obama's opponent, but who actually directly opposed him for President, like Richardson and Biden and Dodd will be considered. They in a sense merely had the good fortune of ultimately being non viable quickly enough for them to not have gotten to throw many punches. Obama understands that. Had one of them gotten traction they gladly would have gone the distance against Obama and would not have spent much of the campaign praising him instead.
