And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Despite what folks want to believe I love the Clintons, I really do. I'm pissed as hell about the way they conducted themselves during this campaign, but I love them.
As I have said numerous times, when this campaign started I truly believed that I would enthusiastically support Hillary should she have locked up the nomination and I was PUMPED UP about the prospect of the Big Dawg Bill stumping on Barack's behalf if he became the nominee.
But something changed along the way, its not Obama's fault, its not the media's fault its Clinton's fault.
The constant goal post changing, the constant not so subtle attacks, the not so subtle use of racism to HRC advantage and Obama's detriment (you don't have to be racist to exploit it), the parroting of GOP talking points, the demonization of those of us who didn't fall in line, etc.
What Bill, Hillary and many of her supporters (especially on DU) neglect to understand is that many of us who are so angry at Bill, Hillary and the rest of the Clinton camp are guided not by hate, but by DISAPPOINTMENT.
Disappointment that the man who was fondly referred to by in the African American community as the first Black President and his wife would play with race in a manner one would expect from Republicans.
Disappointment that the woman who rallied against the vast right wing conspiracy was now joining with them in many of their attacks on Obama.
Disappointment that after it became obvious that Obama was going to be the nominee the HRC camp continued to attack Obama and literally praying for something bad to happen.
Bill was the BEST president I ever had. I do not regret the 100's of hours I have defended him and Hillary online, during panel discussions and over beers. I'm so proud to have supported him throughout the impeachment process and I will never ever throw the pictures I got of him when I went to the inaugural in '96 or the numerous memories of fundraiser I have attended on his, Hillary's or the Clinton library's behalf.
As we look to unite the party in the coming weeks, Clinton supporters don't assume that all of us are Clinton haters, even if we have been very critical, think of it more as a family feud in which many us wouldn't be so damned pissed at the Clintons if we didn't love them so much and are more heartbroken about the way they ran this campaign than anything else.
I am sad about this, and not sad because I love Obama, but sad because I love the Clintons and expected them to handle this race with class and dignity. Their reputation is forever changed, its sad but they have no one to blame but themselves.
