Then vote for McCain already, but don't complain to me when...
The SCOTUS gets flipped and overturns the separation of church and state. Here is a list of the ages of the current Justices:

Roberts: 53
Stevens: 88
Scalia: 72
Kennedy: 71
Souter: 68
Thomas: 59
Ginsburg: 75
Breyer: 69
Alito: 58

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States

You tell me what happens if we get another Alito.

Don't complain when this:

Is how someone you care about returns from the war. Don't have anyone over there? Don't think you are affected? You'd be surprised what can happen in 100 years (or even 8). Troops have to come from somewhere, and if no one is volunteering, people will be drafted.

Don't complain when your home or a major city near you is reduced to this:

Or this:

Because only one of the two major parties finds public interest more compelling than giving billionares the same tax rate as single mothers, and last I checked McCain was on the wrong side of http://www.democrats.org/a/2007/12/mccain_taxes_hi.php">that line.

I could go on with this (I haven't even touched poverty, the environment, or energy policy) but I think you get it. I realize that people need to vent, because I have been there as well. I didn't want to support Clinton when it looked like she would be the nominee, and I still like Obama less than I liked Edwards. Ultimately elections have consequences however, and in voting (or declining to vote) we choose what set of consequences we are willing to accept. So choose wisely, and don't cry to me if you help make a bed that you don't actually want to lie in.

Praise Bob, and have a nice day.

1. Their motto is: "I survived 8 years of bush, and I'll survive 4 more years of McCain". Selfish.

6. I want to make sure we include in that "they"
all the Obama supporters on this site who have said unequivocally that they will not vote for their own candidate if Clinton is on the ticket. Stating you will note vote for the Democratic nominee leads to the same outcome, no matter what your motivation.

Can you supply a hard figure on that assertion? Funny, that's the sort of hysterical "woman scorned" stuff I've been hearing from the other side.

14. Hysterical, woman-scorned stuff? Whatever do you mean?
Here's a link to a thread with 10 individuals stating just that (and several posts and a sub-thread with others saying it were deleted):

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6148442

And that's just one post from yesterday.

Try it yourself. Post something about a possible unified ticket and see what happens.

Is that hard enough for you?

16. I missed that thread, but I liked the "How About HRC, Ambassador to Antartica" bit!
Edited on Wed May-28-08 09:17 PM by pnorman
The entire thread was pretty silly, as so many GD-P are lately. But I recall reading a posting a few days ago, about one who would NOT give support or VOTE if Obama were to be nominated.

No, I will NOT make a trial post in behalf of something that silly! Sorry.

PS:
On edit: Here's a DU link I just had passed on to me: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6162011&mesg_id=6164239
On further edit: I'm NOT a compulsive Clinton-hater, and have defended both in some pretty hostile venues. Please note my "I miss Monica!" sig-line. I've been using that one for the past few years, and will probably do so for a few more. But Barack inspires me, a life-long hard-bitten leftist, with HOPE, while the thought of Hillary in the Oval Office makes my skin crawl!

7. Interesting recent poll about those people claiming they'll do that...
I don't have a link to it with me, but it was in the news of the 'electoral-vote.com' site a few days ago. Apparently according to one poll, most of the Hillary supporters who say they'd support McCain over Obama have no idea that McCain has been prolife for pretty much his whole life (and would therefore nominate prolife justices).

Since the MSM can't be bothered to report this sort of thing.

Obama will need to be aggressive about tyeing McCain to * and the far right.

8. Seriously though
Fuck them. Just get on with it and leave the fucking board. Go vote for McCain so you can hopefully sign up with a zombie account (like so many do daily) if he wins to shriek, "I TOLD YOU SO!"

They get no quarter (pun intended) and can kiss my fucking ass.

It's up to you Obamabots to try to convince me that a liberal Democrat would make a better president than a loyal supporter of Bush. Otherwise I'm going to stay home in November.

the desired results of Clinton as nominee. I suspect that's as long as the threat will last. At least I sincerely hope they're not really that moronic.

the rational Clinton supporters will do the same for Obama.
Anyone who won't...well, they're worse than Repugs in my book.

22. You understand that the SCOTUS doesn't declare war, or maintain bridges, right?
Neither do they administer FEMA.

So, all in all, a very confused OP!

24. The OP isn't meant to imply that they do. The connective theme is POTUS.
The president appoints justices to SCOTUS and is partly responsible for FEMA (along with congress).

The president has to approve legislation, and funding for things like bridges (barring a supermajority in congress).

And McCain happens to be running for president, so you see this does all fit together logically.

28. Its called a paragraph.
Maybe I should have put more spaces between them, but the title of the post was clearly about McCain, and so was this statement about the bridge and katrina images:

"Because only one of the two major parties finds public interest more compelling... McCain was on the wrong side of that line"

and so was my conclusion.

If that kind of logic is too difficult for you to follow, maybe you should stick to threads with just pictures (or maybe actually reading the post would help).

But all sophistry aside, what is your real issue with this OP? Are the above facts somehow inconvenient for you?

23. Sadly, it's that 'spoiled child' syndrome....
"If I can't have everything I want, I'll hold my breath until I turn blue!"

Sob sob...

If this is what politics has denigrated to, it's a sad day.

But.. being a mature woman with years... of other people's childish tantrums behind me...

I say: Fine! You just do that. And then I ignore them.

Because no one can hold their breath without fainting,
no one can stomp their feet and holler effectively without an audience,
and no one can be an 'adult leader' without behaving like one.

Acting out only goes so far. I just don't bother with these children.
All of these supposed 'polls' that 'show definitely that HIllary is the winner'
are simply the result of Obama NOT challenging her at all. Mean nothing.
It's time...

The adults are waiting in the wings for the real campaign to begin.
