It's Official: Obama says NO PROTESTS!
From the diaries at DKos today, OFFICIAL word that Obama does NOT want anyone showing up to protest at the rules committee hearing.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/28/0406/84066/829/523961

Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) campaign is urging its supporters not to demonstrate at Saturday’s highly anticipated Democratic National Committee (DNC) meeting on how to handle the delegates of Florida and Michigan.

In an internal campaign e-mail obtained by The Hill, the Obama campaign states, "We look forward to the meeting proceeding smoothly — and we’re asking our supporters not to show up to demonstrate, passionately as they feel about this campaign."

'Nuff said. One side thinks a display of rabid protesters is a good thing, one knows it's obviously a bad thing. Do the math.

13. I think the SDs & Comm. will give in to Hillary because of their large...
presence there. It's just how people in public policy react. I see it literally every day of my working life.

Yes, they will think they are idiots BUT they will be intimidated by the loud, angry turnout.

Remember what happened in 2000 with the GOP congressional aides who protested outside the vote count? They knew the protesters were wrong, but they stopped the vote count anyway.

This is a strategical blunder, IMO, on Obama's part.

20. Wait, I thought the Hillary Team was playing the role of the angry disenfranchised Democrats...
...not the bullying, manipulative Republicans.

Who's in charge of this 2000 Election Reenactment, anyway?

28. "Who's in charge of this 2000 Election Reenactment, anyway?"...
Not me. If I was in charge there would be at least one big Busby Berkeley production number.

6. Good. It seemed inappropriate to protest to me.
Let's see what the committee decides.

Plus, we know that the Pots and Pans will be carrying signs that make no sense, since Hillary makes no sense on this issue. Let's leave the theater of the absurd to them.

"The Clinton supporters obviously have more heart than lazy Obama supporters who didn't even bother to show up."

I sincerely hope the Clinton supporters listen to Obama's request too.

25. Good call...
I suspect that the Rules committee will seat all the MI & FL delegates as is and Obama will still have the nomination.

Placate Hillary and her supporters, move the party forward. Everybody wins.

(So long as the next DNC chair maps out a strategy for the next primary that includes rotating different states to be front and center and gets all the states to sign off on it so that this insanity doesn't happen again.)

Evem better? Rules committee meeting lasts all of 45 minutes.
