Obama Camp: Not Encouraging DNC Protests - "in the interest of party unity"

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/05/obama_campaign_manager_we_are.php

<snip>

One thing worth noting: The campaigns' positions on the expected protests before the Rules and Bylaws Committee. On the Obama call, campaign manager David Plouffe confirmed that Obama's camp is not encouraging supporters to show up and protest, drawing an implicit contrast between the Obama and Hillary camps.

"We are not encouraging our people to gather in protest on Saturday," Plouffe said. "Obviously with the click of a mouse it would be pretty easy for us to get thousands of people there." He added that they weren't doing that "in the interest of party unity."

Meanwhile, on the Hillary call, Hillary top strategist Howard Wolfson, asked about the protests being organized by Hillary supporters, said his campaign wasn't behind them but again invoked the 2000 Florida recount debacle.

"This is not something that the campaign is organizing," Wolfson said, "but it is in fact something that people in Florida feel very strongly about. Given what happened in Florida in 2000 it's understandable that people feel very strongly."

1. They probably don't want to reinforce the pot bangers' victimhood complex.

3. I wouldn't take Howard Wolfson's word for anything, but in this case, he's probably right.
I doubt the Hillary campaign has anything to do with the planned stupidity (aside from the stupidity of arguing Michigan and Florida itself).

These delusional McCain loving, Coward Proxy Registration using Hillbots aren't Democrats, and probably aren't even DLC'ers. Just hopeless, psychotic nutcases looking for attention.

5. Clinton did urge bloggers to have their voices heard:

Over the weekend, Clinton told a group of bloggers who support her candidacy that she encouraged efforts to lobby the committee on that day.

“I thank you for zeroing in on the May 31 meeting. There will be a lot of activity around that meeting,” she said on a conference call, adding that it was “important your voices are heard” by DNC members.

...I can imagine shouting matches and perhaps even scuffles if people get overheated. If I went, I know I'd probably get pissed and start shouting back at someone.

The campaign needs to get the word out on this..Obama people should not try to counter the Clinton mob.
