Fact -- Hillary has 100% lost, but she writes to superdelegates hyping Rove: I can win
Edited on Wed May-28-08 12:25 PM by ProSense
Fact: Hillary has 1780 total delegates

Fact: There are 86 pledged delegates and 197 superdelegates, including 39 add ons, up for grabs

Fact: Obama will get a minimum of 35 delegates out of the remaining contests

Fact: Obama will get 19 of the 39 add on delegates

Fact: Only 229 delegates are available to Hillary

Fact: If Hillary gets the remaining 229 delegates, she would have a total of 2009 delegates

Fact: Obama has 1979 total delegates

Fact: With 54 delegates (from remaining contests and add ons), Obama's total is 2033

Fact: Obama wins!

Fact: Hillary has 100% lost the Democratic primary.

May 28, 2008

Clinton writes supers: I can win

In a letter supported by a set of polls and charts — including Karl Rove's maps — Clinton makes her case.
The core of it:

That is why I continue in this race: because I believe I am best prepared to lead this country as President — and best prepared to put together a broad coalition of voters to break the lock Republicans have had on the electoral map and beat Senator McCain in November.

Recent polls and election results show a clear trend: I am ahead in states that have been critical to victory in the past two elections. From Ohio, to Pennsylvania, to West Virginia and beyond, the results of recent primaries in battleground states show that I have strong support from the regions and demographics Democrats need to take back the White House. I am also currently ahead of Senator McCain in Gallup national tracking polls, while Senator Obama is behind him. And nearly all independent analyses show that I am in a stronger position to win the Electoral College, primarily because I lead Senator McCain in Florida and Ohio. I’ve enclosed a detailed analysis of recent electoral and polling information, and I hope you will take some time to review it carefully.

Hillary's argument is completely ludicrous

McCain will lose the GE

From presumptive nominee to President Obama

1. Rove, like Hillary, is only good at divising offensive strategies.
His predictions and math aren't very good. Just ask Hastert about the 2006 elections.

5. 2009
After the remaining 229 delegates commit to Hillary, and then she convinces 15 of Obama's superdelegates to switch, you'll have a point. Until then, Hillary has 100% lost.

You're right: Hillary could lose by a lot more than she already has.

14. Let's look at every poll
Wed May 28, 12:03 PM

Let's look at every poll

A certain presidential candidate is making some rather extravagant claims about leading in every single poll taken here on planet earth, so let's just look at the numbers.

This chart shows, by month, the average net margin of victory or defeat for Obama and Clinton versus McCain. It relies on every single poll aggregated by pollster.com except for those polls in which only one candidate appeared. In other words, this is a true apples-to-apples test.

As you can see, even though Hillary Clinton has made significant strides relative to Obama, he still outperforms her on average. Sure, you can cherry pick whatever results Karl Rove may want by taking a selective look at state-by-state polling, but there's no ambiguity: Hillary Clinton does not do any better than Barack Obama versus John McCain.

It's also worth noting that one of the reasons for the tightening is that since March, the GOP attack machine has focused almost exclusively on Barack Obama. Simultaneously, he's faced withering attacks from Hillary Clinton and had to deal with two Jeremiah Wright flareups, not to mention ABC's assault on his patriotism. And yet he's still more than held his own.

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
... But we in the Hillary Clinton traveling press corps were just alerted that the sign-up page for transportation and hotel rooms was updated for the coming week. Interestingly, it allows us to sign up for travel after June 3, the final primary day -- right up through June 6.

A sign of optimism? A sign she's not giving up anytime soon? "Sign up and see," was all Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said.

Carson later added, "There are a lot of places to go between now and November 4."

Doesn't appear that Hillary plans on ending her campaign.
