Strickland or Richardson are the two BEST VP candidates for Obama!
Edited on Wed May-28-08 12:13 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
Strickland brings Hillary supporters and neighboring states where Obama has had problems: PA, OH,
WV, and KY. The only issue for him is that he doesn't have enough policy experience. He spent some time in the House but failed when running for the Senate. He is my 2nd choice.

Richardson has it all!! His resume trumps everyone else's, plus he's Hispanic. Now I'm sure that the bigots won't vote for that ticket, but we don't need the bigots if we get enough Hispanics/Latinos, new voters, Republicans, Indies, and many of those Western states. He is my first choice!

Sebelius is a fine candidate, but she is unknown and we need her to stay in Kansas as a very effective and popular governor. She'd come in 3rd on my list. My fear is that the bigots/misogynists won't support a ticket with BOTH a woman and a black man.

Webb is out! This is his first time in the Senate and he has no other legislative or executive experience. I fear that the Repugs will demonize him for the books he wrote which they call pornographic in nature. He also tends to have a hot temper from time to time. Many will question his termperament. The military experience is good, but we need his fighting spirit in the Senate.

Biden is a good choice, but he's much better as the Sec. of State or Sec. of Defense. I fear that the Repugs will make us relive through his "plagerism" controversy. I also fear that they will focus on Biden's propensity to run off at the mouth. But I think Biden would serve Obama's cabinet well. He's better in the cabinet than he'd be in the Senate.

1. I think Obama needs somebody with strong national defense credentials.
Probably not a senator and in particular not a sitting senator (how would the loss of that seat and how it is filled effect our majority?).

2. No on Strickland!
Face it Mr. Bobble Head Ted screwed up when he left his new post as Governor to hump for Hill. I live in Ohio and have lost all respect for the man. This state in in a severe depression and we needed a Governor who would fight for us, not hitch his own bobbly self to the first wagon that rode through town!

10. Ted wouldn't consider it

He's needed in Ohio and probably wouldn't want to help a candidate who lies about health care reform.

I live in Ohio, too, and he's doing great, still one of the most popular governors in recent history.

4. Richardson is the best choice depending on the vetting..
Richardson's vetting was done in 2004--so I suppose the Obama people already know if there is a "real" problem or not. I think Richardson and Obama look good together and I think it would be a good ticket. I think outreach to the West and Hispanics is very important.

There are other strong candidates, Clark, Webb, Schweitzer--but for geographical and resume--Richardson is a strong choice.

6. Clark would be cool, but he has no policy experience.
The military credentials of both Webb and Clark make them great choices, but Obama needs to balance the ticket with policy experience.

Military is fine, though, and could trump McCain if done right.

He was Navy secretary under Reagan.

14. Schweitzer is better than all of them except possibly Richardson....
I'd give Schweitzer the nod because Richardson is like 0-for-46,783 in coming off well on the teevee.

17. Richardson is my fav for VP also.
I'm not wild at all about Sebelius, but I confess that my knowledge of her isn't very good. My biggest impression of her is from the Dem response to Bush's radio address a few months ago. Didn't like the tone she took.
