Why Waste Your Time with the Obama Can't Win Meme?
If you spent more time advocating for the likely Democratic Candidate for President, then we could move this conversation forward.

•First, you are spouting non-truths (also called lies) about the polls. Obama was ahead in 9 out of 10 polls last week.
•Second, Hillary has consistently been behind in poll match ups with McCain. So your talking point can be used on you as well.
•Finally, how about rephrasing the question:

Do you think the Democrats can beat the Republicans in November without the Hillary supporters uniting behind the Democratic candidate?

That is what you are really asking. Can Obama supporters admit that they need Hillary Clinton and her supporters? Can Obama beat McCain on his own without you as a Hillary supporter? Aren't we important too?

YES, we need every vote to beat the Rethuglicans and Diebold. YES, we need you. YES, we should be nice to those who are reasonable. YES, we should be compassionate to those who are not reasonable.

We are all fighting for the same cause. And together WE CAN and WE WILL.

Move on, Please.

1. He can't win because I won't vote for him because he can't win!
Talk about a self-defeating argument.

6. CSPAN had a great guest on over the weekend
I believe his name was Peter Hart.

He's a Democratic pollster. He does focus groups, too.

Anyways, he said that while the country is ready for change, they aren't ready to change to someone they don't know.

And that's where Obama falls short. Especially among independents.

His bottom line was the Dems will do well down the ticket, but the presidency is definitely up for grabs.

Just sayin'

7. Understand your point and I am ambivalent as to its veracity.
My point is why waste time cramming the meme down our throat, instead of analyzing the problem and fixing it.

is to introduce the candidate. That is why we have them.

If people are complaining about Obama being an unknown (even after Hillary tried to Rove him), then let's get him out making his case to the American people.

8. Human nature.
If their candidate loses, then they are only able to validate themselves through an Obama loss. Plus the added bonus of saying "I told you so" for 4 years.

15. I am not sure if that is a compliment or a slam.
Coming from you I think it is a slam...

But Obama in a pink tutu would be an awesome statement.

BTW, if Obama loses in November, I will most likely be looking over at the Hillary camp for details of his demise. Especially as long as you people continue to demoralize, denigrate and defeat your own party.

I know, I know, Obama supporters do it, too. I've read the memo.

The voters have to be told to be afraid, be very afraid. It's trouble. Terrible terrible trouble, but I can deal with this trouble. Hillary alone can save us from this trouble. If you don't believe them, they will threaten to start some trouble.

18. it is nice to feel needed
but that is not the point. Either you feel sufficiently compelled to save the country from another four years of this bullsh*t to get over your personal preferences and serve, or you do not.

The fact that I would have much preferred Dean in 2004 did not keep me from showing up at Kerry HQ when the time came. No one coddled my feelings to make me feel welcome, and honestly, I would not have been interested. There was simply business to be done.

There has never been and still is not a candidate fully to my liking. I do not expect to ever encounter one. It does not matter.

Conservatives, when they were rising, had a skill for this. They would consistently back fully the candidate with whom they agreed with most often, even if the difference was only slight. That is why it is far better to have a conservative democrat (Travis Childers) in Mississippi than his republican opponent. Now I am sure that there are a wealth of issues that Mr. Childers and I would disagree on, but I expect it is a smaller set than the alternative.

We need to grow up, get over ourselves, stop expecting to be coddled and "cared" for (eg: act like adults) and elect some Democrats, hopefully all of them.

19. Thank you. Well said.
The race for the presidency is fundamentally flawed to begin with. Why do people keep hoping for the Messiah? All they are going to get is a politician.

arm-twisting, telling a good white lie, avoiding stating reality, making promises you can't keep and schmoozing with the money class.

Sucks, but there it is.
