Kerry, Cheney and Sensitivity.
"I believe I can fight a more effective, more thoughtful, more strategic, more proactive, more sensitive war on terror that reaches out to other nations and brings them to our side and lives up to American values in history." --- Senator John Kerry

John Kerry's statement about sensitivity clearly spoke of our nation's important relationship with our allies. Anyone who reads Senator Kerry's words would understand that Kerry was speaking about being sensitive with America' friends, not enemies...except for, it appears, Dick Cheney.

But then, Dick Cheney and George Bush have demonstrated time and again during the last four years that they have an unparalleled talent for turning our nation's friends into our enemies and of alienating even our closest allies.

So, it is understandable that Dick Cheney could and would take such a twisted read on John Kerry's thoughtful statement.

1. I am mystified by how desperate the Republicans are...
they must know something via their internal polling mechanisms that we don't know. I wonder if they have built in a post-debate Kerry bounce in their calculations, because certainly they are going to get a one or two point bounce from their convention. Might they know that there is more bad economic news on the horizon?

The Republican talking points, imho, are so lame and ineffective and unstatesmanlike. Usually, isn't it the surrogates rather than the principals that are slinging mud?

Truthfully, though all of the lies and mischaracterizations over the past couple of days have sickened me on some level, on another level, it gives me insight into just how desperate they are.

3. I Agree: This Blatant Distortion of Kerry's Words Reveals Desperation.
If this is what they have to work with, then they are in deep trouble.

On the other hand, CNN picked right up on Cheney's speech and has their "poll of the day" written as if came directly from Karl Rove's office.

4. Cheney probably considers "sensitivity"
as not referring to his daughter as the "damn dyke".
