A terrific idea for all the Kerry malcontents
Try this one on for size. Instead of sitting at your computers, nervously jumping at every Bushco related attack on Kerry, why not use that time and energy to do the dirty work that Kerry/Edwards cannot do themselves. It does no good for us to have to constantly remind other DU’ers to stop worrying and stay positive. You all think it’s high time Kerry hit back? Maybe, but he’s trying to stay above the fray. OK, that’s fine, but we certainly don’t have to do the same.

I say, fuck it, let’s get down and dirty and be as negative as possible. Instead of griping about this Rove maneuver or that one, why don’t we play ball? The single biggest reason why I hate Karl Rove is because of the shit he pulled on Rick Kahn after the Wellstone Memorial. When he called it foul play, saying the so called “Memorial” was purposefully morphed into a political rally, it stuck, and now we have Norm Coleman in the Senate until 2009 instead of the last great MN DFL candidate, Walter Mondale. We can do that kind of stuff, can’t we. Hit that motherfucker with a bit of his own medicine.

We should check DU for the newest DU talking point of the day, not positive poll results or heartwarming messages from the Kerry campaign, but outrageous falsehoods concerning Bush, Rove, Cheney and the rest. Something simple, not really believable, but nonetheless disturbing. Like my WH friend who told me of the rumor he heard about Bush being caught in the Oval Office doing a Monica on VP Cheney! How about the story of Rove with the two Girl Scouts? I bet you never heard that one. Yeah neither did I but, who the hell cares?

How many of us sit here day after day typing or reading the same old tired shit? I propose we use our time and talents to beat the shit out of Bush and all his cronies. Start by coming up with the zaniest shit your creative minds can dish out. We can vote on it and then flood the media and other discussion boards with it until it starts to effect this race.

BTW, Freeper lurkers, go back to Freepville and piss and moan about this post. When you are done with that, go back to doing what you’ve always done, the same damn thing I am proposing we do here. And while you’re at it. Masturbate again to another Rachel Corrie joke you sick fuckin’ bastards.

Have a nice day…

4. No we don't 'need' to lie.
We're gonna win anyway. I just thought it would be fun. It would be nice to see Rove squirm a little before he's ousted.

6. Of course not.
The truth is on our side. For instance, Kerry had 10 of the 11 crew members who served with him on stage. Where are the Guardsmen who served with Bush, even during his first two years? After all, these were the two years he flew and got good performance ratings. Where are his "brothers?" Is there anyone out there who was in the Guard with this guy who will vouch for him?

That's the kind of stuff we need to be doing. You can ask hard and nasty questions without lying. Well, we can. They can't.

10. True, of course.

The problem is the media. We all know most of the truth concerning Bush's Guard service. But the media won't touch it, whether it be due to ratings or Bush bias. The fact remains that the media, and people in general, prefer rumor and inuendo to truth. Playing fair has got us to where we are today, the minority party in all branches of government. Unfortunate, hell yes. So why not fight dirty?

I'm not suggesting Kerry and Edwards get their hands dirty. But I see no reason to give it a shot. If only to keep the worrywarts at DU and the dipshits at the GOP busy until November.

9. Agreed. There are plenty of real, truthful Bush/Cheney scandals to expose.

3. I would guess that most of us don't spend all of our time on the computer

I doubt that those who don't agree with all of Kerry's campaign strategies just sit around at their computers all day hand wringing. Most people here are probably active in the campaign fight outside of this site.

I agree that we all have a job to do, but the bottom line is that Kerry's campaign strategists have the most power here, not us. If they make a big mistake, which so far they don't seem to have, then we will all pay for it for a long time. Can you blame people for worrying?

Hopefully they are making the right decisions. No one wants to see him fail (other than the disruptors), but that doesn't mean that people aren't rightfully concerned after what we saw in 2000, and especially in 2002 from Democratic strategists.

5. I agree
that we aren't aggressive enough with this stuff as we should be. At the same time what separates us from the bush machine is that they spout lies and misinformation because they have no real shit to do on. Why take ourselves to that immature level when we have plenty of real shit on them already. If we just start making stuff up like they do, not only will we be desensitizing the public to any argument we make but we will also be making that kind of thing okay so the bush people will feel no need to hold back with the lies and distortions. That would be so bad except they control the means to distribute their lies to the masses and that is how they gained support in the first place. We liberals, democrats etc. are better than that and we don't need to play dirty to fight like hell and kick their asses.

8. Lather, rinse, repeat
What we don't do is what they DO do. Recycle. Haven't we already done the Vietnam war shit once? Well sure. Doesn't stop them. They just haul it out and recycle it. That's what we need to do.

Recycle the Bush DUI. Recycle Harken. Recycle drunk until 40. Recycle AWOl with the new web site somebody posted yesterday. Recycle Laura and the accident, compare her character with Teresa and "Shove It".

Lather, rinse, repeat. Then we don't have to lie.

11. This isn't necessary
WE ARE RIGHT. We don't have to lie. All we have to do is keep harping on the points that are in our favor - the war, the economy, social issues and the Constitution.

12. You're right, not nescessary.
I'm wondering if it could do any good? On the other hand, could it do us harm?
