For Dem_Strategist - welcome, and thanks for listening
Edited on Thu Aug-12-04 12:05 PM by DancingBear
This board is nothing if not passionate, and our emotions run the gamut. Those of us who are young feel the passion of youth, while those of us who are not (like me!) feel the passion of wisdom. All this passion comes to fruition in the great maelstrom of ideas that is DU.

You understand, of course, that we ALL are political strategists, and all out strategies are correct, predicated of course on our peer groups. :) That is why you're being here can be invaluable to us, and why (quite frankly) us being here can be invaluable to you.

Many of us here interact with "the great American middle" far more than you can ever hope to, train and bus trips be damned. Those of us that have seen our share of dirty tricks know how they play in Peoria perhaps better than you, or perhaps not. It it us who fight daily with the fathers-in-laws and the office worker who are blinded by the Sound-Bitten President. This, I feel, is why we look for sound-bites of our own - not because we wish to take political discourse down even further, but to use the tried and true strategy one last time to slay the beast. Is this something that the Kerry camp feels the need to do?

As for myself, I'm just a (past) middle-aged guy who writes when I feel the need. I feel very good about JK right now, but I find something gnawing at my ankles. This weasel-like creature is Karl Rove, and I feel that while he's only at my ankles he's much farther up the anatomy in many other Americans. I'd feel much better if JK himself, and not press releases or surrogates, would slap the grimy thing back into the pond once and for all. As for Mr. Bush, well, we've seen how he reacts when the spotlight is taken from him and he actually has to think of things on his own. Does John plan to attack full bore, and make George react the way, well, George reacts? A lot of us are paying good money waiting for that. :)

Thanks for listening, and remember - we're all here to help any way we can.

1. I second that emotion
Dem_Strategist will find fire and passion, sometimes pointed in the wrong direction, but one thing s/he will never find is a shortage of desire to send that squatter back to Crawford, where he never belonged in the first place.
