This is what sanity looks like (for those who have forgotten)
"We take a short statement, totally innocent and we twist it and twist it and we yell and scream about it and we fake being outraged and scandalized until we look like a bunch of fools."

1. Sanity?
The victimization of Hillary Clinton is enough to drive anyone off a cliff. Stop perpetrating it.

6. The GOP is waiting for you
If pushing back on being wrongly accused of wanting your opponent to be assassinated is too much "victimization" for you, you're in the wrong party, pal.

Hillary is our most electable candidate because she is such a freaking victim all the time.
There is no excusing her vile and odious comments.

It was not a slip of the tongue or a poorly thought out analogy to long primary races.

She meant what she said.

She is staying the race because candidates get killed in June.

7. What bothers me
Is not that I think she's planning to win on an assasination, but that she'd be happy if it happened. I'm also pissed as hell that she didn't have the decency to apologize to Senator Obama's family

18. Not happy, "Ready".
In her mind, it would only be a death or something. SHe on the other hand will be the strong (victim) leader (martyr) to step in and take the reins of the country.

8. Wrongly Accused? Give us all a break. nothing she said isn't fully considered for it's underlying
insinuation. like her hard working voters, WHITE voters. And all the other trash she's said about Obama not being able to win, and her personally exploiting any gaffe he has made. Obama has been nothing but graceful about her gaffes, and she remains the consumate victim and wanna-be idiot in chief.

I cannot wait until this is all over. And by the looks of things, she better clean up her act, or risk her senate seat as well.

She defended mentioning that RFK's campaign was still going in June, 1968.

12. Please explain...
Obama's comment was interpreted honestly, and this comment of Hillary's was not. A minor difference by today's standards, to be sure.

What was Obama's intention with his bitter/cling comment? Was it not interpreted correctly, as a dismissive statement about god-clinging, gun-clinging, immigrant-hate-clinging Hillary supporters?

You might fairly argue that it was overhyped, as I might fairly argue that other foibles of Obama's have been under-explored. But his statement was, in fact, dismissive, and that's what it was criticized for.

I remember when Democrats knew -- and cared about -- the difference between honest and dishonest issues. But things change.

It wasn't totally innocent.
Sorry.

It was an oft repeated talking point, more blatant and bold than the mere boogie man in the corner "something might happen" meme her whole campaign spews over and over. This is what they were hinting at all along.

It pulled back the mask and revealed what was behind those other comments.....she's in it because he might get killed.

No sale.

Sorry.

She needs to exit the race. Immediately.

5. So far...
Clinton has inserted race into the campaign at every possible moment, compared the Florigan problam to ZIMBABWE and SLAVERY, and talked about winning the race (inaccurately I might add) because anything might happen and referencing an ASSASINATION to prove her point. I think she's gone crackers.

9. I don't do fake outrage.
Edited on Sun May-25-08 12:52 PM by liberalmuse
And you're being blatantly dishonest if you think what Clinton said wasn't even a little disturbing. I'm not outraged, though I would be had a Republican said it, just because many of their ilk actually do condone gunning down liberals or they tend to make tasteless jokes about such stuff. I was disgusted with Huckabee's comments, and I damn well expect better of a prospective Democratic Presidential candidate. I know Hillary didn't mean any harm, and wouldn't want anything to happen to Barack Obama, but she fucked up, to put it bluntly. I'd be dishonest if I didn't say that Clinton chose a piss poor analogy that makes me wonder if her comments might have been all-too revealing of her inner nature. THAT gives me pause.

16. I'm being perfectly honest
I don't throw stones at people because they use the word "assassinated," when mentioning someone who was, y'know, assassinated. But that's just me.

Huckabee made a joke about Obama being a sissy who wouldn't want a gun pointed at him ('cause Republicans apparently like that sort of thing). Absolutely repulsive. Shows that Huck is a hateful freak under that nice-guy persona.

Hillary recalled a tragically memorable candidacy that, like hers and her husbands, lasted into June. She must be a witch!

10. I have been trying to stay out of this today
but the linked article has to rewrite Clinton's actual words in order to sanitize them to support the thesis. Her actual words cannot be used because they are simply appalling.

Forget about the assassination crap, there is another stunning lie in her justification for staying in. Her claim that other primary seasons were in contention until June is party valid, Bill Clinton's campaign was slightly in contention until the huge California primary in June, as Brown had a slim chance of being able to carry his home state despite being basically out of money and having not campaigned since March. The lie is that this is somehow analagous to the current primary campaign. California, and all of the big states that can alter the outcome, have already voted. It is over, it will indeed be totally over next week as three small primaries, one in a territory that has no say in the GE, complete the season. Why is she in the race? What is the real reason? We can only guess as her explanations have been bullshit, and sometimes bizarre unsettling bullshit.
