I still think Ted Strickland is the best VP pick ...
IMO, Obama needs to extend some kind of olive branch to Clinton supporters with his VP pick, but Hillary herself is unthinkable now. Among the pro-Hillary VP choices, Strickland is clearly the best since Ohio is THE swing state- if Obama wins it then the rest of the electoral math looks good. If he loses it, it looks pretty challenging. I've read that the Obama campaign respected Strickland during the Ohio campaign, apparently he's a big step up from Ed Rendell of PA. I think having a Rust Belt governor as VP choice would help in states like Michigan and PA as well.

Yes, I know there's that ridiculous video of Strickland nodding like a fool behind Hillary as she gives her "shame on you, Barack Obama" rant but that's nothing to get too worked up about. Obama can say that dustup involved a flyer he mailed out which he conceded was partially inaccurate.

3. Strickland isn't as vile as Rendell, but he's a close runner up
And just as likely to have "tweaked" the Diebold results.

Bottom line is that Hillary does not deserve to be on this ticket, nor do any of the most vile partisans who were participants in the smear campaigns. Strickland might be slightly less guilty of that than the obvious racists like Rendell and Ferraro, but he's still too far up Hillary's ass to be taken seriously.

I'm still thinking Wes Clark is the only Clinton associate with a shot at the VP slot. Yeah, he made some silly statements too, but they were way back in the early days of the campaign when everyone thought Hillary was inevitable. Kinda funny how he's not saying anything at the moment. Another reason to believe he's on the short list.

5. Strickland would make a good VP choice, but ...
... I can't help but imagine that that video -- Strickland the human bobblehead standing behind Clinton as she flames Obama -- will be played over and over again on every station as soon as his name is announced. Yes, I know it's a petty reason to disqualify someone, but it is something to think about.
