Give me a fuckin' break
Clinton makes the most tasteless comment she possibly could, insulting the Kennedy family, the Obama family, the party, the country, and her own character, and there are people on here saying I should be ashamed of myself for being offended. Bullshit. What does she have to pull before you'll stop defending this crap?

I've heard a boat-load of folks saying that she meant this or that. Fine. All it would prove if she "misspoke" is that she doesn't have any common sense at all. Doesn't she think before she opens her mouth?

How much longer are we going to play this game before the party gives her the hook? A year ago I NEVER would have believed that I would see the Clintons destroy their reputation to this degree. This is tragic, and they can't seem to see it.

Hillary is invoking the politics of fear.

Jesus, after eight years of this wretched Bush Administration, we just don't deserve this fucking drama.

Enough, already. I want to go after McCain, and I want the Clintonistas to stop retreating to Victim Stance every time Hillary says something stupidly outrageous.

I'm sorry IF you're offended.

42. The New York Times editorial board put it well:
http://theboard.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/23/say-what-hillary-clinton-does-it-again/

But she could, at least, have apologized.

Instead, she issued one of those tedious non-apology apologies in which it sounds like the person who is being offended is somehow at fault: “I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”

If?

Is it even possible that Mrs. Clinton thinks someone out there was not offended by her remark, Kennedy relative, Obama relative, or just plain folks?

6. The fact she apologized to everyone BUT Obama, his family, AAs and supporters
is solid proof she meant exactly what she said

The "gaffe" is the accidental or deliberate speaking of the truth

it's interesting that she tried to hide it in a lie

Bill Clinton sealed the nomination long before June

10. Considering how
she and her supporters have piled on every gaffe Obama, his wife and his pastor has uttered, I think Hillary got off easy.

I don't believe Hillary is somehow hoping for something bad to happen to Obama but I also don't believe that Obama believes everything that came out of Wright's mouth, that Michelle has never been proud of this country.

If Obama said something like this, he would be accused of fear mongering, of playing the sympathy card, of being calculating and would not get off with just an "I regret" type of 'apology'.

15. It can get worse
Every time it is said that she can't sink much lower or act more deluded or press on further with no hope of winning, she proves them wrong.

She could drop pantsuit and moon her assembled followers and they would swoon and go on more resolutely. "See, she proved that lack of nads hanging down is no barrier to continuing a campaign!"

19. It's a sad day when Skinner can get the kind of backlash he did for a center of the road piece.
Even in the depths of logic, the most comforting thing I can find is that she meant "I'm going to stay in the race on the off-chance that something bad happens to Obama, such as did to Kennedy." That is unforgivable. Even if it is a slip of the mouth, her apology was the most half-assed piece of writing since 'Cavemen' hit last fall.

Subject line/message context disagreement error. Sorry mods, but this is a little over the top for me to be peachy about.

I fear for the country, if it's your viewpoint that's going to be represented in the White House.

35. not only were her words tasteless
but also her alleged timeline argument was flawed. In 1968 and 1992, primary campaigns didn’t really get started until ~February. In fact in 1968, RFK didn’t announce until March much to the ire of those who felt he was undercutting Gene McCarthy who had won in New Hampshire and shown how weak LBJ was. That’s why LBJ announced, also in March, that he “would not seek nor would he accept the nomination of his party…” I remember it like it was yesterday since I worked on RFK's campaign and lived in DC.

And while CA may have put Bill officially over the top in June 1992, he had already essentially sown up the nomination in April.

Hillary is a liar and a sociopathic narcissist whose words truly revealed her ugly and craven heart. There is no excuse or absolution for them. She's not even fit to serve in RFK's senate seat!

They really are. Whether it's Gore or Clark or Kerry or Edwards or Obama or Clinton or....they will NEVER admit when their candidate is dead wrong. They can never even let a bit of light in to see the other guys side as to why their candidate appears flawed to them.

I no longer ride the adore the politician train. It was VERY detrimental to my health. I think they call the other side Bushbots. Well some here are reminding me of Hasselbeck on the View. You know their candidate commits murder and they have a rationalization for it-while the other guy says a bad word and it's equal to murder.

Unless you yourself can read her thoughts or myself included, we can only assume, and the fact that so many has opinions means nothing more than another week of no nonsense newscasts being heaped on our untrusting minds.

Mark my words, the republicans are loving this simply because it ensures people are looking the other way while they continue to rape our country and destroy our democracy, but carry on, don't let me stop you from deciding what is more important to pay attention to.
