after being accused of "overreacting" and "knee-jerking" so many times last night,
Edited on Sat May-24-08 08:42 AM by beezlebum
i went to bed completely disgusted, but thinking perhaps it was so, that perhaps i was misunderstanding, perhaps i should sleep on it and maybe i'd have a cooler head by this morning.

after sleeping on it, i'm not blood boiling angry, but i'm more certain that what she said was beyond the pale, and i'm more certain that "fed up" "flabbergasted" "disgusted" and "offended" are the proper emotions.

i think that "callous" and "insensitive" don't capture this petulant and loathsome display of entitlement and self-importance. "despicable" "contemptuous" and "should-be-ostracized" are perfectly appropriate.

while i've used hyperbole in the past to express my thoughts on her less than progressive or liberal values, it is now a firm belief that she is no longer fit to so much as call herself a democrat. all the *forgiven* misspeakings and tiredgaffings indicate that her presidency would run in the same vein as those of george w. bush*s. i can't take anymore "gaffes" and outright lies, lies and gaffes which are not taken out of context like her opponent's, but rather hold an openly brazen and uncaring quality.

this morning, after sleeping on it, more than anything i still find it unforgivable- there are only so many times one can "apologetically" toe this line. i truly believe she was testing the waters with previous mentions- her excuse, after such previous "mentions," that the kennedys have been on her mind, is almost as bad- it came across as opportunist given those previous mentions- how convenient. it was an apology without apology, riddled with excuses and justification.

1. I think I'm more angry today
The real weight of what she did is sinking in.

2. I know she didn't mean it the way it sounded
but it certainly ranks in the top ten of stupidest things ever said by anyone. I know I've said some extremely dumb things in my time, but never anything at that world-class level of stupid.

4. I still believe she absolutely meant what she said because it wasn't the 1st time
she'd said it. The most insulting thing to me was that she won't even apologize to Obama for it, only to the Kennedy family. She owes this party and the Obama a huge apology.

For once in her life, she was being honest.

7. Nobody has come up with a reasonable explanation
for what she said that isn't: 'staying in because assassinations happen'. I've seen a few attempts, but mostly they are pretty pathetic. Instead the counter attack is, as you point out, we are overreacting. (The Pastorbating Wright bitter sweetie crowd has no legs to stand on there, but that is irrelevant.)

9. i looked for it in the big hillary blogs

12. Maybe I was just hoping
I've never been a big fan of hers but I find it hard to believe that something that stupid came out of her mouth deliberately.

3. I think initially it was the breezy way
Edited on Sat May-24-08 08:30 AM by marylanddem
she floated the possibility of assassination paving her way to nomination that was so shocking - but her bullshit apology to "the Kennedy family" that totally ignored Obama in a surreal & racist way...that was even more appalling

6. I had not heard or read any news from 2:00 PM till after midnight ....
.... yesterday. When I sat down and read the news late last night I
was numb with anger and shock. Hillary needs to quit the race now,
quit the Senate now (she is Bobby's old seat), and not show up @ the
convention.

I didn't sleep well in part because of her words .... She is a freaking
lawyer who knows damn well what she is saying.

11. You mirror my night's non-sleep, too.
I totally agree that she knew exactly what she was doing and it angers me that she has not publicly or privately contacted Obama and his dear Michelle to apologize. Not only was it the wrong thing to say, but it is incitement for those nuts of the world who don't need much encouragement.

She has disturbed a hornets' nest and I don't think it will quiet down. It is time for Hillary to hang it up and let us get on with the show.

The fat lady has sung the wrong song.

13. I'm still really pissed off.
She doesn't care about this country or the people in it. She just cares about getting power.
