23. He basically said what has been on the minds of many. That she mentioned
Edited on Fri May-23-08 08:25 PM by Maraya1969
Bobby Kennedy's assassination to imply that because Obama is black there is a chance, (and I'm not the only one who has feared this) that he will be assassinated too. (And that is why she should stay in the race). They had video of Bobby Kennedy and it was really sad to see him so happy only to know he would be dead very shortly thereafter.

He then went through a list of all the people that have been assassinated in our country. John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther Kind, Malcom X, and the attempts on Ford and others that are slipping my mind right now.

The list is longer than I knew or expected.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Presidential_assassination_attempts

He did not mention all of these but I am astonished at the number. And I'm really upset now about what Clinton said because Barack Obama is going to have 2 things going against him. 1. He will be the President of the United States and 2. He is a black man in a place of power. And some people can't stand that.

42. I was a little surprised that he included Malcolm X in that list
figured that he is too polarizing a figure for people to want to accept his murder as an assassination in the same breath as those other names he mentioned. Kudos to KO for having the balls to say what needed to be said! :patriot:

20. When I first heard her comments, I felt outraged, then nauseated...
then I felt like crying. I got some distance from it, but his commentary choked me up again.

Why won't the Democratic Party take a stand against this? They don't actually ENDORSE assasination as a campaign strategy, do they?

15. How come the outrage is only real if it's hillary whining about
sexism and unfair debate questions? For fuck sake, she actually said "We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California." while trying to defend her deluded desperation to stay in the race. WAKE UP!!!

12. Here too. The anger and frustration I feel about this is something I haven't felt in a long time.
What I am feeling is real, not some fake, manufactured outrage.

Keith Olbermann put it all in the context of American History, and rightfully so.

I have nothing but disgust for Senator Clinton.

38. That's not the point. Clinton was not so much the point as was the horrible
things that have happened to great leaders in this country. And the video of Bobby Kennedy was so sad. And then when he reminded us of the latest Kennedy tragedy it was even sadder.

He also talked about Martin Luther King Jr. and I don't know if he said it or not but the fact is a black leader in this country who has the kind of love and support that Martin Luther King did is threatening to a lot of racist people.

16. That was as angry as I've seen Keith lately...
...well, outside of him coming down on Bush for his "sacrifice" of golf to match the sacrifice of the young men and women in the American armed forces in Iraq. And this was certainly far more than during his special comment about her negative campaigning after Ferraro's comments weeks back.

24. I just talked to my husband on the phone and informed him what had been...
going on. He was devastated. He has a very personal experience of RFK's death, and my husband was just devastated.

It's not just my husband, but so many people who had much more close associations with that tragedy. I predict some awakened angst across the land.
