104. NO. It needed to be said and he did it perfectly. It is fucking WRONG to evoke assassination...
Our country's shame and horror is the assasination that laces its way through our history and psyche.

For the love of god, is there no one out there who can get her out of the race? Surely her family can do it. If not, the SDs should immediately switch to Obama.

The Democratic Party HAS to take a stand that this is WRONG and will not be accepted.

59. The professor from Rice University said she can't stay in the race after this...
and that this quote will be very bad for her history/biography. He said she's gone to a "dark place" and her friends and loved ones should get her out of the race.

89. Olbermann is the Bill O' Reilly of the left
Edited on Fri May-23-08 08:03 PM by fed_up_mother
He tells the truth, but he also spouts a lot of opinion and like tonight...downright sermonizes. It may be opinions I share, but that doesn't make it news. Actually, I don't consider his show real journalism. Just news commentary. But the screaming sermons are tiresome. And in that way, he is like Bill O'Reilly, but that's ok. We deserve our own. :)

However, I'm not sure I know of any real objective journalism anymore, so that's not saying much. :)

33. Well I can be a Democrat and have been my whole life
Edited on Fri May-23-08 07:26 PM by LisaM
And if you saw how many campaigns I've worked on, how many calls I've made, how many mailers I've sent, how many yard signs I'd pounded in, how many petitions I've circulated, how many booths I've manned at county fairs, and how many doors I've knocked on on behalf of candidates, you would be ashamed of yourself for making such a remark. Democrats are under no obligation to like Olbermann, or any news person for that matter. Not only is it a big tent party, it was, last I knew, a party of free will as well.

It doesn't mean that I have to listen to KO go after Hillary AGAIN. He's off his rocker on the topic.

However, long before now, I thought, and I stand by it, that his Special Commentaries are just self puffery. They make me uncomfortable watching them. He is trying to make himself out to be a modern-day Edward R. Murrow and there is absolutely no comparison (among other things, Murrow was an actual journalist; Olbermann is an opinion guy).

After the first one he did (can't remember what it was) I was really turned off. They are more about KO than about his topic anyway. Why doesn't he just light a cigarette and show it in black and white? Seriously. I think he seems pontifical and over the top and I've thought that since the first one.

I like his show, and his opinions, I support Obama, hate Hillary, and agree with his views, but don't like his 'special comments'. As I said, too scripted, too theatrical, too pompous...

just my opinion

ETA: You know what, I'd much rather than all this self-elevating rhetoric monologues journalists and commentators do, they actually went out, found politicians and confronted them with these opinions and actual questions, and didn't take their bullcrap sidestepping to anything that isn't the cheapest of softballs, but confronted them with it.

Is Keith just going to use the entire show to bash Hillary? I mean I don't see any other subjects. Will she be the "Worst Person In the World?" All three of them. This is out of control. She was referencing how long the process has been...she chose some horrible examples. She IS NOT ADVOCATING the assassination of Obama - Or what some Obama supporters have stated..."She would rather have him lynched.

This entire process and our Party completely disgusts me.

82. Mentions that death threats against Obama began the moment he began.
Asks, "What about YOU, Senator?"

Says no one believes that Clinton is "hoping for the worst of calamities."

Now quoting other times that she mentioned RFK's assassination.

March 6th she used the word assassination, by May 7th she had removed it.

Now she brought it back again. Why?

90. Keith is articulating exactly how I feel.
No I'm sorry. No I apologize. No please forgive me.

We have forgiven you for misspeaking about MLK, Bosnia, insisiting MI's vote wouldn't count and then claiming it should, photos of Osama Bin Ladin in a campaign ad, Richard Mellon Scaiffe and laughter at his "deathbed conversion," dozen changing metrics...

Oh hell he's just on a roll now.
