A basic principle, sort of a "campaigning 101" item, is to never get in the way of an opponent who is doing him/herself in. Barack has stood clear. The media on the other hand, is rather going to town. But then that is what the media does, just like the weeks of Reverend Wright, and the Dean "scream".

I have been doing media interviews for years now as part of my job. It is rare that they ever treat you fairly, and it is always absolutely critical to never give them an opening like this. This is vastly and nearly unimaginably more true for a Presidential candidate.
