I have been thinking about Obama's VP.
I think Hillary should be VP. But I also like Biden and Webb. The person I like least is Nunn (because he is a homophobe).

1. Biden or Webb would be better. Hillary can't be on the ticket
because she said Obama couldn't pass the commander-in-chief test.

2. Yes
If you want Obama's presidency to be a disaster, then by all means have Hillary as VP.

Biden would be fine with me.

3. I'm finding it hard to find anyone who brings more to the table than Webb.
Virginia is already close and Webb could turn it blue. I can't think of anyone else who could bring that large a state with them.

8. Very small state, though, and I'm not sure he could pull in other western states.
Do you have any ideas there?

17. He's very charismatic --
and once people hear him, I think they'd really LIKE his style. I feel he'd appeal to the Repubs who aren't too thrilled with McCain -- he was the first Dem elected in years to his position. Works hand in hand with the Repub Lt Gov to bring positive changes to MT.He

People have asked about his foreign policy experience. In his business he's worked all over the world, and he LIVED in Saudi Arabia for (I think) seven years. He speaks the language and understands the culture far better than people on committees who visit a couple of times a year and attend a reception.

Told Bushco to go to hell regarding National ID.

He's committed to clean energy.

Others here have given far more eloquent and informative reasons than I.

Here's a good article on him. The more you see/hear of him, the more you'll like him.

11. Montana only has 3 electoral votes...
...I have heard great things about Schweitzer, but he's not as familiar to me (I wouldn't know him if I saw him) as Webb. That said, after seeing Webb interviewed this past week about his new book, he looks like he'd be a perfect fit as Obama's VP - and would be the answer to anything McCain could throw at Obama militarily speaking.

18. Webb isn't familiar to a huge number of Americans
who aren't as into this as we are. Put Webb (who I really DID like as a VP candidate, and wanted him for VP when Biden was still running) up with Schweitzer, and I think more people would be drawn to Schweitzer.

I've heard, and not sure if it really is true, that they don't use the measure of how many electoral votes a candidate could bring that much anymore.
Even then, he'd probably bring a lot of western states.

If he received exposure, I think he'd be appealing on many levels and be a bit plus for the Dems in Nov.

6. I think you should name Hillary as your VP. You have that right. If she turns you down, then
you could ask Biden or Webb!

Me, I'm not running so i won't be asking anyone.

I think Obama should ask who he wants to ask. I can't pretend to know who he should ask. I'm not that privy to his wants, needs, and overall information.

9. No senators! We need to keep them where they are...
I've been looking around for governors and politicians who are good in economics and/or war/foreign policy. Here are some of the available ones I've come up with:

Gov. Bill Richardson {all around experienced and qualified}
Gen. Wesley Clark {degree in economics & from Arkansas}
Gov. Tim Kaine(Virginia)
Gov. Strickland (OH)
ex-Gov. Mark Warner(VA)
Gov. Scwheitzer (MT) {good for the farm vote at least}

I love Webb and Dodd but they are both Senators that are needed where they are at. Dodd is from New England states so he wouldn't be a pull for any needed voting population up there but he has a great record & well versed in economics....Webb would be a great pull for the Scots-Irish voter but we also need him in the senate.

Any other ideas?

10. I would be really hesitant to name a sitting Senator...the ratio is so close,
that to remove a second Democrat (along with Obama) would give Liberman too much leverage. I mentioned in another post that I like former Senator Bob Graham of Florida.

12. That's seems
another good name. Obviously there is no popular clear choice once the impractical Hillary controversy is removed from the equation, but many good ones even if they don't wildly benefit the ticket. Not many Veeps have, btw.

13. I like Wes Clark -- military experience, style is compatible with Obama ...
Plus he's a Clinton supporter so it might help assuage them to
put one of her backers on the ticket.

14. Hillary bring nothing to the ticket!
He needs someone who has "real" experience, not made up stories like Bosnia! If Hillary were on the ticket, the only one who would benefit would be McCain. Every republican in the country would come out to vote against "Hillary". Those who would stay home or even vote for Obama, would be voting just to make sure Hillary would NOT be a heartbeat away from being president! No, Hillary as his VP would be a terrible mistake, the biggest one he could possibly make!

15. I've been thinking about Clinton's VP.
And all I can think of is John Edwards... and that won't work any more.

19. I think the same possibilities that have put forth for Obama
would work for Clinton, too. Except, as you mention, Edwards -- and Richardson's out, too. I could see her with any of the others.
