I really hope Jesse Ventura runs for Senate
The debates between him, Al Franken, and Norm Coleman would be priceless. Plus I think Franken would end up winning.

2. Tax Scandal
Edited on Thu May-22-08 09:06 PM by Jake3463
He didn't pay state income taxes or something like that. Was mostly his accountants fault but you know how the GOP is.

4. He didn't pay income taxes in other states when he did speeches there.

I think. Considering I'm a Minnesotan I should know more about it, but I don't.

11. Having a bad accountant is right up there w/ Coleman's aiding & abeting a criminal
The main issue should be Bush lapdog Norm Coleman's record of overlooking the Bush administration's many crimes.

3. Jesse Ventura
I used to like him at one time. But now he is a gasbag big time. I did watch him when he was given a show on MSNBC a few years ago, but he did not last very long. I saw him a few weeks ago on Larry King Live. I am not from that area, but I dont think he was voted in for a second term. He lives in Mexico now. I guess he must be fedup already, and he is crying to attention. I hope Al Franken is able to take this seat from Coleman. How are the polls running?

6. Al Franken
He did pay all taxes owed, (and in fact, overpaid), he just didn't pay them to the correct states. He trusted his accountant too much...

10. No

He generally says both parties suck and that's his message. When Wellstone passed away he appointed his own campaign manager to the seat.

13. Not this time
Edited on Thu May-22-08 09:43 PM by Jake3463
He can't get on the ballot in FL or WV after June 1st it will be about 6 more states.

You need about a month to organize that kind of signature campaign too. The parties control the laws for getting on the ballot and they try to discourage independents with very high signature standards.

Joe got away with it during the Senate campaign because he started collecting signatures before he lost the Primary.

5. Jesse would certainly put some LIFE in the Senate.
Sure would like to see Jesse body slam a few members from the other side of the aisle.

7. Don't bet on it!
For one thing, Franken has fallen behind Coleman (the Republican politician I despise even more than Bush)in the polls.

Also, Ventura has an interesting place in MN politics. People love him or hate him. Enough loved him to make him governor. They could also make him senator.

I used to live in Minnesota. I really want to see Coleman defeated. Almost as much as I want a Democratic president. Not as much, of course, but almost!

At any rate, I do NOt think that Ventura entering the race would necessarily help Franken. Ventura gets a lot of his strength from independents and people who are libertarian in principle. He does have the ability to announce late and still pull it off. He has almost 100% name recognition in MN, and his followers are strong.

Of course, a lot of Minnesotans are embarrassed by him too.

8. If the choice is
Ventura or Coleman...I could live with "The Body"

Hopefully Franken gets a bounce from the nominee and people hating Bush.

14. Granted. Coleman is 100% snake.
I don't think Jessie is going to help Franken in November. I really would not be surprised to see him win the whole thing. He has a cult-like following among many. He appeals to independents. He is colorful, and the press will give him ample time for media exposure.

Coleman, on the other hand, is very adept at being slippery. He is a shrewd campaigner. He took advantage of Wellstone's funeral perfectly.

16. I believe having Ventura in the Senate would be a good thing
He's a one of a kind person and the kind of person to shake things up in the Senate. His view of things are needed in the Senate.
