I Am Woman
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

103. You have other options, you know.
Hemorrhoidectomy and/or Hysterectomy
Sex reassignment (but you have to undergo a lot of tests and stuff)
Sew it up altogether. You'll never know you had it.
Pain in the ass? Wow, anatomically, you gotta have that checked out
Anyway, keep an aspirin between your knees so you won't be tempted, swallow two other aspirin, and call me in the morning.

Sincerely,

The Vagina Dialogues

59. I think it's reasonable to ask what is the reason for posting that well known song.
Does it have something to do with the primary campaign or not? After all, that's what this forum is supposed to be about.

And why wouldn't a woman have to explain her reasons? Are you implying that a man has to but a woman doesn't have to. Wouldn't that be sexist?

Final words: your choice.

35. Obama got nothing on Pablo
Pablo Picasso - The Song

Words and music by Jonathan Richman.

Lyrics
Well some people try to pick up girls
And get called assholes
This never happened to Pablo Picasso
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare and
So Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole

Well the girls would turn the color
Of the avocado when he would drive
Down their street in his El Dorado
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare
Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole
Not like you
Alright

Well he was only 5'3"
But girls could not resist his stare
Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole
Not in New York

Oh well be not schmuck, be not obnoxious,
Be not bellbottom bummer or asshole
Remember the story of Pablo Picasso
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare
Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole
Alright this is it

Some people try to pick up girls
And they get called an asshole
This never happened to Pablo Picasso
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare and so
Pablo Picasso was never called...

Helps with the "crap aimed at WOMEN" in general -- and elected women in particular -- that is being slung here everyday.

Geraldine Ferraro was right. Just like Obama, I was lucky. Affirmative action and whatever I brought to the equation helped A LOT. I got a good education, but of course, it was NOT in Law or Medicine, but TV-Radio-Film. Then found myself in the right place at the right time to take down the nay-sayers and get into the broadcasting industry. I achieved a modicum of success, and am now retired.

By the way, I never stopped wearing a bra, didn't parade around supporting women, wasn't a lesbian, shaved my legs and underarms and wore makeup, so call me a feminist if you want. I just kept interviewing women and men who seemed to be on the cutting edge of the gender revolution between 1957 and 1983. After that, the gender issue became the elderly issue (hired by a company at age 44 and let go for no real reason at 53). But that's another song for another day.

Our female nominee for the president is eight years younger than I am.

It is very hard to see her take some of the same "lumps" delivered to me in person and by mail and telephone.

"Ellen, I don't want you to stay at your job later than 6:30 PM. You have to come home and make my dinner every night." (1964)

"Ellen, your voice isn't authoritative enough. Men won't listen to women because women have screechy voices." (1970)

"Ellen, I can't hire you because you have children. What happens if one of your children gets sick?" (Hillary probably didn't get that one!) (1973)

"Ellen, your dress is TOO SHORT. We are getting complaints about how you are dressed in the publicity shot. We'll have to shoot the picture again." (1972)

"Ellen, your CLEAVAGE shows in that shot. It's not appropriate. You'll have to put on another blouse." (1950s)

Luckily, most of the MEN who uttered these phrases are probably DEAD, and I'm not sorry.

I'm standin' by all WOMEN right now, I have walked MILES in their footsteps.

6. WE ARE THE WORLD - WE ARE THE CHILDREN ... by Michael Jackson
Edited on Thu May-22-08 08:39 PM by ShortnFiery
There comes a time
When we hear a curtain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on
Pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God's great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

131. Another song
Edited on Fri May-23-08 04:14 AM by dbmk
Artist: 22-20s
Song: Shoot Your Gun

spin me some sad story
sell me some excuse
to help me understand the things you do
'cause the way you treat your lovers
well I just can't relate
well where'd you learn to shoot your gun so straight?

oh baby won't you cry?
show me there are some tears behind your eyes
oh baby won't you cry?
show me there's a hurt behind your eyes

once you had a reason
and once you had a place
you had it all and laid it all to waste
and I know you hate to need us
but why'd you need to hate?
and where'd you learn to shoot without restraint?

oh baby won't you cry?
you cut yourself so let me see you bleed
oh baby won't you cry?
cry for all the things you'll never be

don't you see your father?
don't you feel the love?
don't you see your brother?
don't you feel the love?
well could you be a mother
could you ever find the love?
that you would not place yourself above

oh baby won't you cry?
show me there are some tears behind your eyes
oh baby won't you cry?
why'd you have to kill to feel alive?
why'd you have to kill to feel alive?
why'd you have to kill to feel alive?

Like a fool I went and stayed too long
Now I'm wondering if your love's still strong
Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!

Then that time I went and said goodbye
Now I'm back and not ashamed to cry
Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!

Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)
Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)

I've done a lot of foolish things
That I really didn't mean, didn't I?

Seen a lot of things in this old world
When I touch them, they mean nothing, girl
Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!

Oowee baby, you set my soul on fire
That's why I know you're my heart's only desire

Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)
Here I am baby
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours
(You got my future in your hands)

O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see you any more
Put up or shut up
You spell, you read
D O O R
You got a big mouth and I'm happy to see
Your foot is firmly entrenched where a molar should be
If you talk much louder you could get an award
From the federal communications board

Don't be cruel
Be a thing-sweet thing as a rule
Don't be sad
I left you in the street, you're pre-fab
I had to get away

Don't go away sad
Don't go pre-fab
Don't go be bad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see you here no more
Pack it and move it
You spell, you read O U T out

Don't be bad
A mad hatter's beret
Sometimes you look like you just mad an escape
Don't be mad
Or lose your medicaid cool
Of course cool rhymes with fool

Don't go be bad
Cause you been had
Don't go be sad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see ya curse and pout
Go Away (Blondie)

Pack it and move it
Ya spell, ya read O U T out

You got a big mouth and I'm happy to see
Your foot is firmly entrenched where a molar should be
Don't be mad or lose your medicaid cool
Of course cool rhymes with fool

Don't go pre-fab
Cause you been had
Don't go be sad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

Don't go pre-fab
Cause you been had
Don't go be sad
Don't go away mad

Go away and stay away

and I also find that song really annoying.

I really really really dislike Hillary Clinton, but if I was her supporter, I would like that Peaches song "The Boys Wanna Be her" played at rally

You've got them all, by the balls
causin' waterfalls
Stone walls
Bar brawls
Common stalls that cause 'em all (?)

To you they crawl, body sprawl
Smokin' Pall Malls
Close call, stand tall

Doll, you make them feel so small
AND THEY LOVE IT!

The boys wanna be her (The boys)
The girls wanna be her (The girls)
The boys wanna be her (The boys)
The girls wanna be her (The girls)
The boys wanna be her (The boys)
The girls wanna be her (The girls)
The boys wanna be her (The boys)

I wanna be her

Yes I do

but again, as a woman, I feel the obligation to say that I in no shape or form want to "be her".

23. Fuck Armageddon... This Is Hell!
"Fuck Armageddon... This Is Hell!"
(Bad Religion)

There's people out there that say I'm no good,
'Cause I don't believe the things that I should,
And when the final conflict comes, I'll be so sorry I did wrong,
And hope and pray that our Lord God will think I'm good.

Countries manufacture bombs and guns
To kill your brother for something that he hasn't even done.
Smog is ruining my lungs, but they aren't sorry they've done wrong,
They hide behind their lies that they're helping everyone.

In the end the good will go to heaven up above,
The bad will perish in the depths of hell.
How can hell be any worse when life alone is such a curse?

Fuck Armageddon, this is hell (x3)

We're living in the denoument of the battle's gripping awe,
So what's the use of being good to satisfy them all?

How could hell be any worse? Life alone is such a curse!
Fuck Armageddon, this is hell (x5)

24. Well here is my theme song
Folks
I'd like to sing a song about the American Dream
About me
About you
About the way our American hearts beat way down in the bottoms of our chests
About that special feeling we get in the cockles of our hearts
Or maybe below the cockles
Maybe in the sub-cockle area
Maybe in the liver
Maybe in the kidneys
Maybe even in the colon
We don't know

I'm just a regular joe
With a regular job
I'm your average white
Suburbanite slob
I like football, and porno, and books about war
I've got an average house
With a nice hardwood floor
My wife, and my job
My kids, and my car
My feet on my table
And a Cuban cigar
But sometimes that just ain't enough
To keep a man like me interested
Oh no, no way, uh uhh
No, I gotta go out and have fun
At someone else's expense
Oh yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah

Hillary has run (or rather hasn't, which is half the problem) a campaign based on racism, slander, and outright LIES. Obama has resisted all temptations to go negative. He's kept his cool far better than I would have, in his place.

But then, that's why he will be the next President of the United States, and neither Hillary or myself will.

First, you don't get to announce that a poster is being removed. Second, I didn't advocate McCain's election, I predicted it. Third, I have already said what my compromise will probably be: I will vote for Obama in the 2008 GE. If he wins then I will vote against him in the 2012 Democratic Primaries.

130. Unbelievable. Where do I begin to start counting all the insane things you said.
1) How can you possibly know that he won't face a primary challenger. I know that I will vote against him because I think he is a bad person. I also can't imagine that he won't be a terrible president.

2) You've already decided that if Obama loses it is her fault? How wonderful....no matter what, Obama is a saint. Sorry to break this to you, but without Clinton campaigning for him Obama has no shot. He is totally dependent on her to win.

3) I think we'll survive four years of McCain, especially since we will know from the get-go that he is only serving one term. Then Clinton or O'Malley can come out in 2012 and destroy Mitt Romney.

71. I think her campaign has been very competent. It's not her fault that a bad human being like Obama
smeared her as a racist or that the media lynched her or that Axelrod launched a campaign of personal destruction against her to redefine her as a person. She wasn't prepared for that level of hatred as a Democrat. She also didn't realize that Obama could dominate the caucuses like he did and rack up such huge margins. Hillary ran a good enough campaign to win California, NY, Texas (primary), Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachussetts, Arizona, etc. Obama just outmanuevered her and out-smeared her (she never even tried to smear him). It happens. But that doesn't mean that he would make a better president.

Not that we'll ever know. Hillary won't win the nomination and Obama won't defeat McCain. In three years Hillary will be Senate Majority leader and Obama will be an irrelevant junior senator, stuggling to overcome his status as the new McGovern.

117. In the race of Northern Ireland it was Obama and his supporters who were lying.
Hillary's role was confirmed by George Mitchell and the leaders of the two factions, Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams, two men who have hated each other and agreed on nothing for 40 years. Family and Medical leave was a particularly evil example of Obama lying: he had William Clay Sr come out, pretending to be neutral, and criticize Hillary. But her role was reported in the media AT THE TIME. The Republicans were trying to attach an amendment about gays in the military to the bill, which threatened to derail it. Hillary lobied to keep the issues separate. Not that this was something she was talking about that much anyway. She wasn't even too focused on her record as First Lady (other then her world travels). Obama is the one who worked hard to present her as Bill Clinton's wife running for Bill Clinton's third term--he is a misogynist.

NAFTA and IWR are your opinions.

Hillary is not a habitual liar, that was carefully orchestrated campaign by Barack Obama to smear her. And sadly it had some success. But not enough for him to win Pennsylvania or Indiana. We'll see about Montana. And in the end it will wear off just like the nonsense about Al Gore lying about James Lee Witt. Hillary will be redeemed, elected as Senate Majority and Obama will be an irrelevant junior Senator, who spends the rest of his career working to overcome his McGovernite labeling.

Hillary Clinton had no direct role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and is a "wee bit silly" for exaggerating the part she played, according to Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province. (I'll take his word over Mitchells any day)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/07/nobel-winner-hillarys-n_n_90505.html

Seriously though, a bigger story supposedly "uncovered" in the First Lady papers is that Hillary never held or attended any meetings on the Family Medical Leave Act, which was the first piece of legislation President Bill Clinton signed, 10 days after entering office. Having just written a piece about the FMLA for the upcoming print issue of the Prospect, I can tell you that anyone familiar with the law should have already realized Hillary's very limited involvement. The non-profit organization the National Partnership for Women and Families originally drafted the bill, which was then championed in the House by former Colorado Congresswoman Pat Schroeder and in the Senate by Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy. These three were at work trying to pass the FMLA from the late-1980s on, while the Clintons were in Arkansas and running a national campaign.

gays in the military. It was the first big debate of the Clinton presidency. It was all over the news at the time.

You are quoting one man on N. Ireland, while the two leaders of the main factions say that she was involved. And wow....George Mitchell has now joined the ever-growing list of bad human beings who must be excised?

She isn't a liar, it is Obama who lied about Selma getting him born and the Kennedys bringing his father to America.

Hillary's big "Family and Medical Leave Act" lie that's getting almost no attention and just got a lot juicer with some findings by the TAPPED's Dana Goldstein.
March 21, 2008, 9:41AM
Hillary Clinton's claim that she helped pass the Family and Medical
leave act is as gross an exaggeration, if not outright lie, as any of
the well-covered ones we have learned about recently (Northern Ireland
peace accords, Bosnian landing with Sinbad, etc.)

When Hillary
Clinton became First Lady on January 20,1993 the FMLA didn't need any
help to pass, which is the reason it sailed through congress 16 days
later by huge margins.

The bill had been around for years, had
strong support in both houses of Congress, and had already passed, yet
been vetoed, twice before during the preceding George Bush Sr.
Presidency. All it needed was a president who wouldn't veto it. Everyone knew this.

As
soon as that happed congress acted quickly and passed it for a third
time just 16 days into the Clinton Presidency by overwhelming margins.
All Bill Clinton had to do was take out a pen, fulfill his campaign
promise, and sign on the dotted line - which he did. Unless Hillary
helped him hold the pen it's hard to fathom how her campaign can
possibly claim she helped pass the thing.

why didn't it last? Do you hear it on the radio at all? Now "imagine' or even a song like "Layla" (same time period as "I Am Woman") re songs that never went away. GOOD songs.

Plus their music is waaaaaaaay better than this cheestastic crap.

If the OP had used something like this, I'd have a lot more respect:

The Sickbed of Cuchulainn
by Shane MacGowan

McCormack and Richard Tauber are singing by the bed
There's a glass of punch below your feet and an angel at your head
There's devils on each side of you with bottles in their hands
You need one more drop of poison and you'll dream of foreign lands

When you pissed yourself in Frankfurt and got syph down in Cologne
And you heard the rattling death trains as you lay there all alone
Frank Ryan brought you whiskey in a brothel in Madrid
And you decked some fucking blackshirt who was cursing all the Yids
At the sick bed of Cuchulainn we'll kneel and say a prayer
And the ghosts are rattling at the door and the devil's in the chair

And in the Euston Tavern you screamed it was your shout
But they wouldn't give you service so you kicked the windows out
They took you out into the street and kicked you in the brains
So you walked back in through a bolted door and did it all again
At the sick bed of Cuchulainn we'll kneel and say a prayer
And the ghosts are rattling at the door and the devil's in the chair

You remember that foul evening when you heard the banshees howl
There was lazy drunken bastards singing Billy is in the bowl
They took you up to midnight mass and left you in the lurch
So you dropped a button in the plate and spewed up in the church

Now you'll sing a song of liberty for blacks and Paks and jocks
And they'll take you from this dump you're in and stick you in a box
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground
But you'll stick your head back out and shout "we'll have another round"
At the graveside of Cuchulainn we'll kneel around and pray
And God is in His heaven, and Billy's down by the bay

These Deep Thoughts brought to you by Irish-Americans for O'Bama. Slainte!

And I've never doubted that I was strong, wise, etc. so I don't need songs like this to quell those insecurities.

123. Ooo... not good
Even a cheeseburger itself is un-Kosher. With pork chili, even more so.

And funding the McCain campaign all at the same time? Oy vey!!

And beyond that..... I ate at that Carl's Jr at 75th & Castle once. Didn't get off the toilet for about 6 hours soon after that. But if food poisoning by Republicans works for ya, go for it.

133. I Can't Hear You No More
I CAN'T HEAR YOU NO MORE
Helen Reddy

Here you are again
Tell me you're sorry baby
Tell me you wanna come back home
Where you belong
There you go again
Lyin and alibing
Singin that same old worn out song
Here it comes now
I can't hear you no more
I've heard it all before
You ain't reachin me no how, no way
No time till noon today
I can't hear you no more
I can't hear you no more
You walked out on me
Once too often baby
And I can't take no more of your jive
And that's the truth
I ain't about to let you
Rub me in the ground
I'm not gonna throw away my youth
Not for any man
I can't hear you no more
I've heard it all before
You ain't reachin me no how, no way
No time until noon today
I can't hear you no more
I can't hear you no more
I can't hear you no more
I've heard it all before
