we'll make a killing.

Right beside it I'll open a Birkenstock shop, and a Volvo dealer. I'm going to be a millionaire.

:woohoo:

5. You think OR

6. Actually, you'd do better with a non-starbucks branded shop.
We likes us some independent vendors here, Starbucks is a tad corporate-sellout for us.

I'm only kind of joking. :)

7. An opening Starbucks was firebombed here in Portland a few years back...
Just happened to be opening across the street from The Red and Black, an employee owned socialist cafe.

Now that's Portland! :7

As far as I know no one was ever brought up on charges for that one, but they just rebuilt the Starbucks and The Red and Black moved to another part of town.

20. Okay, almost sounds like a winner....
Solar power might be a problem here, though. Maybe only open during the summer?

15. What with the 290 Starbucks that are already there...
Edited on Sun May-18-08 07:09 PM by hendo
what's another.

I don't understand the obsession with Starbucks though, they make the worst mocha that I have ever tasted.

edit for a link to support the 290 in Oregon: http://www.starbucks.com/Retail/Find/LocatorResults.aspx?fs=1&loc=oregon|43.94084381764521|-120.60080043907688

19. Naw... you know what's the GREATEST thing about Portland... we have lots of
INDEPENDENT businesses here... tons of mom-and-pop shops, there are few big boxes... it's a place for people (well, and the fact that it's a gorgeous city is just an added benefit...)

'Course Starbucks did migrate down here from Seattle, but there are lots of independents too
