The Primary is NOT the GE!
Why can't some understand that it's different when two Democrats are running against each other? That in most cases, a Democrat will not campaign the same way against a fellow party member as they would in the fall? That we're talking about running against a man who is a CARBON COPY of the President who has the lowest approval ratings since Nixon, whose policies and administration has made this country a mockery around the world? To say that Barack Obama cannot take on this person because he might not have beaten one of the most established Democrats in Washington in every single state is absolutely ridiculous. When ALL voters have their say at the polls, and not just the party members who care enough about the candidate selection process to participate, I have a feeling that the naysayers will be VERY surprised at how handily Obama will handle McCain.

Just wait until he's standing behind a podium next to that pasty-faced old codger. I would have said the same for Hillary if she'd been the sure winner because I think to most clear-headed Americans, a statue of one of our candidates carved out of feces would look better next to John McCain. McCain is going to look as foolish and curmudgeonly as Bob Dole did standing next to Bill in 1996. The choice will be so stark that people will be unable to ignore it.

I just wish people would get off of this idea that Obama absolutely can't beat McCain, because it's incredibly flawed. Incredibly. And it's also defeatist. Show some fucking chutzpah and believe that there are more people on our side than you think! I NEVER would have foreseen what happened in the 06 Congressional races. I thought we'd gain a few seats, but I didn't have faith that hardcore red seats would go blue. But they DID. Because the tide has turned, people, and if we believe in our principles, we can prevail.

We can win this thing because we've got some SERIOUS high ground over the Republicans! And many Republican voters are seeing the same. But in the end, the majority of politics for people is perception, and come August, when this game is fully underway, the only thing people will be able to perceive is that there is a crazy old bastard who wants to bomb half the world into submission, and that crazy old bastard is running against the next President of the United States.

7. and, I personally think that it is harder for a man to campaign against a woman....so
once Obama is running against another man then he will come out swinging more. Obama has been a "gentleman" during his race with Hillary. And, before you go commenting I am using gender, I am not because it is the truth. Some men have a hard time putting down a woman, no matter who she is....and I, for one, like being respected.

10. I think you make an excellent point.
When it comes down to it, he has run a much more positive campaign and he's had to be careful because being branded a sexist would have been a hell of a lot harder to overcome.
