Not_so_fast "Not so fast" full-page ad in this morning's USA TODAY (HRC) *

http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/

'WomenCount' says it's too soon to count Clinton out

Not_so_fast "Not so fast ..." the full-page ad in this morning's USA TODAY declares. "Hillary's voice is OUR voice, sand she's speaking for all of us."

"We want Hillary to stay in this race until every vote is cast, every vote is counted, and we know that our voices are heard," it concludes.

The ad was paid for by WomenCount PAC, which USA TODAY reporter Fredreka Schouten tells us is a newly formed political action committee that includes among its founders Susie Tompkins Buell, a major Democratic fundraiser and a supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Buell, Fredreka reports, is based in northern California and is a co-founder of the Esprit clothing line. She's a "Hillraiser:" Clinton's designation for fundraisers who have collected at least $100,000 for her presidential campaign.

WomenCount says it was created "to ensure that the 51% of American citizens who are women have their values and votes counted in the political process and supports candidates in support of progressive, political values.

1. She doesn't speak for me
I respect and admire her and her supporters for their tenacity, but I object to this ad's claim that she speaks for all women. She does not speak to me, or my 50-year-old mother who hobbled around on a broken foot canvassing for Obama on the day of the Pennsylvania primary, or my 78-year-old grandmother who marched with MLK 45 years ago and would be just as proud to see an African American president in her lifetime as a woman and thinks Obama is the better candidate and would make the better president.

As a woman and a feminist, it really bothers me when Clinton and her supporters play the gender card and try to make me feel guilty for not supporting her. I will vote for her if she is the nominee, but I feel that her strategic use of feminism has in many ways set the womens' movement back.

10. And the 'feminists' on some Hillary sites
diss Michelle Obama in very un-feminist ways.

They're not feminists -- they're just Hillary supporters using sexism as an excuse for her not being the presumptive nominee.

But you're right - I AM petty so even though I don't know these people to whom I referred - you obviously know me. You're just so very smart.

crying sexism when there isn't any is a perfect example of playing victim hood

so please list my lies

come on tell me if Hillary husband was not the former president would she even be a senator let alone a serious contender for president. You know the answer -- no

And all this "I'm you girl" that was a message, vote for me because I'm a woman
and now when things have gone horribly wrong it had to be because of sexism-- thats bull Shit and you know it.

Want to admire a great woman politician look no further than Barbara Boxer who not only made it on her own but while doing it put her husband through law School
and Boxer is a SD for Clinton but thats okay I still admire her and she is one of my favorite politicians regardless of gender

120. How?
what did she do outside of Bill that set her apart from the rest of us. The law firm she worked for(Rose), on the board of Walmart were because she was the wife of the governor of Arkansas. Don't buy the hype, we need to get away from this dynastic approach to politics of "because you are related to a politician automatically you are the front runner, reminds me of sone third world country, I mean thats how we got dip shit W, I don't know how many times I heard people tell me "well his father had good men around, they will him out"

I love Tracy Morgan's rant on SNL "Personally, I want to know what qualifies Hillary Clinton to be the next president? Is it because she was married to the president? If that were the case, then Robin Givens would be the heavyweight champion of the world"

and since Hillary told people to check out SNL, I think its okay I use it also

150. Many folks argue that Bill got where
he was by having her working for him. Her early political work and job as legal counsel for Congress was done on her own. I haven't been following her day to day to see what she does, but I would imagine she probably had to do some kind of good work to make partner at the Rose Law Firm. I don't believe the Stepford wives we find on the Republican side have done such things.

Whenever you post...do you speak for everyone? Well you don't speak for me...Hillary does! Now go tend some patients with more of your poor advice.

153. Oh, so you agree that the presumption to speak for all women is innappropriate.
Why do you feel the need to be so defensive/offensive?

It was a simple question, and a rational point. That, and I didn't give any advice.

Here's some good advice; Get to the bottom of your hostility and learn not to take swipes at people who aren't trying to offend anyone. I'm not trying to be mean, I just think that you should save the hostility for those who aren't trying to be civil.

28. Yes, they did. "We are the women of this nation."
"We are the women" is a declaration that they speak for all women of America. Not "We are a group of women," or even "We are women of this nation." They said "we are the women of this nation," which is ridiculously presumptuous.

80. FEC v Wisconsin Right to Life -- No candidate ads 30 days before a primary
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipartisan_Campaign_Reform...

In June of 2007 the U.S. Supreme Court held, in Federal Election Commission v. Wisconsin Right to Life, Inc., that BCRA's limitations on corporate and labor union funding of broadcast ads mentioning a candidate within 30 days of a primary or caucus or 60 days of a general election are unconstitutional as applied to ads susceptible of a reasonable interpretation other than as an appeal to vote for or against a specific candidate. Some election law experts believe the new exception will render BCRA's "electioneering communication" provisions meaningless, while others believe the new exception is quite narrow. The Federal Election Commission's interpretation and application of the new exception during the 2008 election cycle will determine the true scope and impact of the Court's decision.

She does NOT speak for me, I don't want her to speak for me, I don't need her to speak for me.

And it's pretty arrogant to put herself in the company of Susan B. Anthony et al.

Central Park in NYC. Terrifying thunderstorms that night. I live in central NJ and we got them, too. The sky was actually dark green and the lightening was continuous. (I am frightened of thunderstorms so I remember the really bad ones.)

And I agree with you about the pic of Hillary-it is great. Probably the best one I've seen of her. She looks like a rock star. And she has great hair, it always looks so good.

99. I find this very interesting:
The daily numbers: Obama's edge over Clinton narrows; McCain moves in front
Barack Obama's lead over Hillary Rodham Clinton among Democrats and other voters who "lean" Democratic has narrowed from 6 percentage points yesterday to 4 percentage points today, Gallup just reported. He's ahead of her 48%-44% in Gallup's national tracking poll.

In a hypothetical general election match-up, Republican John McCain edged past Obama. McCain now leads 47%-45%. Yesterday, the two were tied at 45% and for the eight days prior to that Obama had held 1- to 4-point leads.

Meanwhile, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton is ahead of McCain in today's other hypothetical general election match-up; 48%-45%. She's now had between a 1- and 5-point lead over McCain for 11 straight days.

Gallup says its numbers on the Democratic nomination race "are based on combined data from May 13-15, 2008," reflect the opinions of "1,232 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters," and have margins of error of +/- 3 percentage points. The general election match-ups are based on May 11-15 surveys of 4,366 registered voters and have margins of error of +/- 2 percentage points.

Go Hillary!!!!

.......The big story is the overwhelming and enormous response to the PAC’s effort. Once we opened the PAC and started to spread the word, we had hundreds of contributions within three days totaling nearly $200,000 — and it’s still coming in. As a result, in addition to USA Today, we have already purchased ads in local papers throughout Oregon that will run on Mo nday and we are working on our Internet advertising strategy.

She had no plan past Feb 5th. Obama immediately beat her in pledged delegates. He then beat her in popular vote. And now he beats her in superdelegates. And he just got the endorsement of the much loved other guy who came in 3rd.

But wait! Not so fast!

Give. Me. A. Break.

Real women don't whine about being treated unfairly, they make it change. Hillary and this campaign have potentially set back the women's movement with their false accusations of sexism. And with the extreme supporters stating that all females have to vote for Clinton. Blech.

this nomination process pick up sexist overtones?

Does it ever dawn on people that watched Hillary's poor campaign, riddled with lies, cost her this nomination? Am I sexist because the day she signed the IWR I made a mental note to myself that hell could possibly freeze over before she got another vote of mine? Is it sexist to be absolutely sickened by the thousands of jobs being sent overseas almost daily aided right along by a brain child of her husband..NAFTA?? What is sexist, pray tell, about being terribly concerned about these horrendous whoppers she tells when common sense begs you to look beyond the obvious chuckles these fabrications warrant and try to see why she could or would say something so asinine on the world stage? What she said, aside from insulting our men and women in uniform that have been attacked by snipers, could almost be humurous...but "why" she said it can't be that easily dismissed. When there is nothing more important to this country and the people that live here than the next election to wrestle the corruption from the crooks and then have a Democrat stand up and praise a Republicans experience in a sickening political stunt to divide and conquer the very Party she represents...what is sexist about saying thats over the top and unworthy of a vote?

Hillary not becoming the next President of the US has nothing to do with sexism. It has everything to do with her credibility issues, her voting record, this nasty scorched earth campaign her minions ran, her rude way she comes across to people, her attitude that someone owes her something, and her obvious phoniness to anyone capable of looking at the whole picture not through the prism of the bottom of a Kool-Aid glass.

If that sexist, then I guess I'm guilty as charged. But it'll be the first time in my long life I have been labeled that.

But, thats my opinion...and I'm not alone. Not everyone that doesn't vote for Hillary is sexist either. We aren't worried about her vapors. We are worried about this country right now.

But today it's as if Obama's "weakness" (his race) is winning the Battle of Bigotry and Hillary's "weakness" (her gender) is setting women back (because it's being used for political purposes?)... 215. oh but there is. Looky here:

... http://clintondems.com/2008/05/womencount-pac/

this is the good part.

ads in oregon

.......The big story is the overwhelming and enormous response to the PAC’s effort.

222. LOL. Newspaper ads...for those who can't afford REAL ads on television. As an Oregonian, I say
they are wasting their money here.
