There have been DUers refuting your claim and saying that he DID fight back and respond, but I see it's ok to let the media and Democrats that sat on the sidelines off the hook on this one. Kerry has been one of the hardest working Obama surrogates out there, and this is the thanks he gets?

exactly what Obama said. This was not a "swiftboating" episode, this was a major policy debate. Obama did fantastic, but I don't see why we have to knock the previous candidate on this narrow issue. Kerry gave Bush plenty especially in the debates, where Bush looked like he wanted to crawal into a hole he was so defeated by Kerry. What turned the election was fear, Osama bin Laden, and color coded terror threats. The country is different now than it was then.

Hillary was siding with the enemy then much like she is now, and as the perceived leaders of the party at that time, it weakened the party.

Not this time. Kerry and other fine Dems have Barack's back. The Clintons are being rendered impotent this go and their back-biting attacks on the party vis a vis trying to hamstring the presumptive nominee are tantamount to chattering crows.

This is our time now. The party is warming up to deliver a long overdue righteous ass-kicking of the GOP in the fall.
