Not that I'm one to take my cues about what to believe from priests, but the Vatican's top astronomer was making a statement about the likelihood of life elsewhere in the universe. That's completely different from the likelihood that any of that life is secretly spying on various bumpkins.

I think that the RW group (American Enterprise Institute??) decided that it WOULD cause large scale panic by fucking with every-one's religious belief systems so they said recommended the governments keep it quiet. I was never sure about UFOs or alien life until I saw one in November 1997 (a UFO). To this day it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life.

that said society would collapse (wrong in my opinion). If UFOs are in fact real, I don't think disclosure will happen. I doubt the government even knows the truth about UFOs and if they did, they've been hiding it so long alot of people would be in deep legal trouble.

Besides, disclosure would only help the Dems in the fall. Once people realize that there's more to this universe, being afraid of minorities, terrurists, and libruls would pale in comparison to their fear of aliens.
