Swift Boat (New Kerry Talking Point) Response Help!
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 02:01 PM by IdaBriggs
Hi, folks. I'm (still) asking for help with my "suggestion" to the Kerry campaign folks re: a patriotic counter-attack strategy to the Swift Boat Idiots who are insulting the US Navy by implying they give medals away without appropriate checking, thus insulting all Armed Service Medal Recipients.

I posted a suggestion on their Campaign Activities Board --

http://forum.johnkerry.com/index.php?s=faa343acb5560edc74c9dc46ab180637&showtopic=54272

and need people to both VIEW it and COMMENT. If I'm understanding things correctly, this will demonstrate support for the idea, so it might become a better "talking point" than "of course John Kerry didn't lie -- they're liars!" which looks lame.

Can you folks PLEASE help me out here? Or if you don't like the idea, go to the board and offer a better suggestion?

Thank you!

Ida M. Briggs

2. Factcheck is a Republican front designed to obscure the truth.

3. no it's not...

RNC Ed Gillespie tried to say the same thing but that backfired on him...they are so non-partisan it's not even funny...

(snip)
Several of our subscribers were alarmed to hear Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie claim -- in an obvious slip of the tongue -- that FactCheck.org is a Republican website. It happened July 12 in a C-SPAN television interview.

It's not true, of course. And at first we didn't believe Gillespie had really said such a thing, given how often we've criticized him, the RNC and the Bush campaign. But when we got around to checking the video -- there it was -- he said it.

6. Yes It Is!

The Annenburgs are extremely active supporters of the republican party. I would not trust in them for any substantial truths about anything, as noted in the swift boat story. They (factcheck.org) know that the men running the ads are not being truthful to the American public, but add their little statement at the end of their article that either party is equally credible at this point in time. Horseshit! Rasmussen was there, those who were there were several hundred yards away in a broken down boat. The others weren't even there.
As far as what gillespie said, I took that for what it was, a Freudian slip, oops!

8. Doesn't sound like you examined the evidence
Look at the case of Rassman, the guy Kerry pulled out of the water under fire. He says things were one way, and another guy, Thurlow, who ran his boat aground 200 yards away says things were a different way. All the contemporaneous accounts back up Rassman, and factcheck is telling people both versions are equally credible -- any YOU are telling us they are not biased?

:wtf:

Add in the fact that they've contributed so much money to Republicans and it's easy to figure out their game.

4. Urk -- I'm not being clear. Sorry!
I'm completely convinced the Swift Boat Idiots are LYING SCUM. I don't really care about that.

I WANT THE CAMPAIGN TO MAKE IT A THEM VS. THE UNITED STATES NAVY ISSUE (instead of Them Vs. John Kerry).

This approached "worked" for Bush and the National Guard, and I think it should work with the United States Navy and Marine Corp.

I'm trying to get the attention of the Kerry people so they will start using this talking point instead of "liars!" which just plain looks lame, no matter how true it is.

So, I'm asking people to go view the original post that I put up --

http://forum.johnkerry.com/index.php?s=faa343acb5560edc74c9dc46ab180637&showtopic=54272

which is titled "Insulting the Navy (Not Kerry)" to view and comment on how they think people will react to this "spin."

Does that make sense?

(And thank you for the links, anyway. I thought the Salon articles were interesting, too.) :)

Best,
Ida

5. I like that approach...
I'd never thought about it before, but you're right. If they are challenging Kerry's medals, they then have to challenge the medals everyone else was awarded. I hope the Kerry campaign listens to you!

13. Insulting the Navy...
Is bad. And let's not forget the marines! I appreciate the support. Any chance you'll head over to the Kerry boards and let them know what you think? (hopeful smile) Best, Ida

10. It's like they are saying Kerry is a murderer and a war criminal. (?!)
He gunned down a Vietnamese teen-ager in cold blood, who was only trying to run home to his village. And to cover it up, the evil US Government awarded him medals and ribbons and all, to make it look like Kerry was just doing his job, and doing it bravely and well. Tricky, these war-monger governments.

Next ploy from the notsoswiftboatvets: Kerry had to be restrained from cutting the guy's ear off for a souvenir. Circle complete.
