WERE IT NOT FOR LEGACY, BUSH WOULD NOW BE A PIZZA DELIVERY BOY.

THIS IS HYPOCRISY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER....ALSO A BIT OF RACISM.

FROM TODAY'S L.A. TIMES

WASHINGTON — President Bush, whose father and grandfather preceded him in attending Yale University, said Friday that he opposed special treatment in college admission for children of alumni, just as he opposed special treatment for racial and ethnic minorities.

In a question-and-answer session with minority journalists, Bush said he favored programs that increased diversity in the student body, but was against quotas for minority groups, as well as so-called legacy admissions.

"I think colleges ought to use merit in order for people to get in," Bush told the UNITY convention, a joint national conference of four professional organizations of black, Latino, Asian and Native American journalists.

Asked directly whether he favors affirmative action, Bush replied: "I support colleges affirmatively taking action to get more minorities in their school…. I support diversity; I don't support quotas."

xxxxxx

That hypocrite had a mediocre to poor record in high school and under normal circumstances would never have qualified for Yale. But because Daddy and Granddaddy went there before him, he got in. Now one of his daughters just graduated from there because of the very same legacy program. Bush would have been a pizza delivery boy or a MacDonald's French Fry Guy today had it not been for Legacy and now, he wants to end the program?

1. No pizza joint would hire a person with a DUI on his driving record
Perhaps Walmart.

2. He doesn't want to end the program
He only said it because he was put in a difficult position when he said he does not favor special treatment for minorities, that admissions should be based only on individual performance. So the next question was about Legacy, it was great because no matter how he answered he would look like a moron. He took the path of least resistance, if he said he would want to keep Legacy then he would have looked like a racist, instead he looks like a hypocrite.

8. The twins too.................
They'd be in some Junior College (not that there's anything wrong with that) now if it wasn't for legacy.

There's only three kinds of gas, but have you seen how many kinds of pizza can be ordered? Poor Stupidhead would pop a mental gasket.

5. Bullshit.
I don't believe for one second he wants to end that program. It kills me how easily he lies. We had this debate in school when we were talking about Affirmative Action. The group against it said the same thing "only merit should count." It was pointed out however that athletes and legacies and affiliates all have significantly lower requirements than everyone else. A football player stood up there and said that it was different for football because football is good.

6. Naw, you forget GAWD put him in office
legacy had nothing to do with it. Not sure why Gawd selected someone who picks his nose in public, but Gawd works in mysterious ways.

7. You are all wrong. Even if he wouldn't have been accepted at any
university in the country, daddy and his friends would have set him up in some company, until he ruined it, as CEO or possibly a position which paid well, but couldn't cause much damage.

He would never have been president though.

9. "affirmatively taking action" -- too funny
The Chimp cannot say "affirmative action." Remember in the 2000 debates, when he talked about "affirmative access?" He went into some long, rehearsed spiel about it, then Gore asked him if he was for affirmative ACTION. Chimp said something like, "Well, if that means what I just said I'm for, then I'm for it."

Merit required for people who were born underprivileged. Legacy for those who were born privileged. He'll never let go of that position no matter what he says, and it won't be tested because I doubt anybody's going to petition the court to end legacy admissions.

Homeowner's Association, and trying to steal the common grounds.
