Uncommitted TN super delegate is a "dead man" to Hillary
Way to attract those SD's, Hill. :eyes:

~snip~

In a front-page story in Thursday's edition of The Hill, the newspaper covering Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis, D-Tenn., was reported to have turned down an invitation to meet with presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

Davis was among a group of so-far-uncommitted Democratic "superdelegates" who were approached in the last day or so by the Clinton camp in the hopes of garnering their endorsement.

"He says that's not true," U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tenn., told The Daily News about Davis' refusal to meet with Clinton. "But that's on the front page of The Hill. I told him he might as well go ahead and endorse Barack (Obama), because once Hillary sees that he's a dead man anyway."

~snip~

"She brought in a camera to record the meeting. And she has not released the memos on this meeting. She immediately declared war on me. I warned her we didn't even have the votes (for her bill) in our subcommittee. She said, 'We're going to (politically) cut your legs off.' I've never gotten such a cold reception as I got from her."

~snip~

10. Assuming you are indeed out of the loop
On other message boards that are even less civil and mature than this one (yes they do exist), morons try to be the first to respond to a post, typically simply exclaiming one of "FIRST", "FRIST", "FIRTS", or some other misspelling.

Somehow DU has avoided that.

8. It should be pretty obvious
that Hillary doesn't have the skills to bring about compromise or else, like the man said, we would have universal health care now. Her blundering on that issue killed universal health care. I remember being pretty angry about it at the time. She wasn't willing listen.

Cooper went on to say, "...She criticized my health care bill because it wouldn't achieve universal coverage until 1998. Well, today we'd be celebrating the 10th anniversary of having every American with insurance.""

6. If this is true- it shows why Hillary is perfect for Senate Majority leader
No more milquetoast Daschles and cowardly lion Reids. If you cross over and vote with the far right- expect there to be consequences.

That's how Lyndon Johnson would have played it....

9. Yes, the Leader should be an alienator
concensus-splitter.

If you break and vote for the far left on an issue, there will also be consequences. The problem is, the consequence may be permanent excommunication, so the majority of "in" senators will soon become a minority. The senate will become a three party system: Republicans, Friends of Clinton, and Enemies of Clinton.

12. No, A leader needs to install some discipline in the party
and deal with the multitudes of DINO's who CONSISTENTLY cross over and vote with the far right.

Hell, Harry Reid himself crossed over on the Bankruptcy Bill.

Ask yourself why Republicans don't do that (no matter what their inclinations might be on any given bill).

Now, ask yourself why they've won DAMN NEAR EVERY SINGLE POLICY FIGHT over legislation and confirmed DAMN NEAR EVERY EXTREMIST NOMINEE over the past 7 years.

Yep- that's consensus building in action alright.

and I'd like to see the party as a whole exude something other than cowardice and complicity in Congress.

Actually, what I enjoy much more are parliamentary systems such as I've seen in action in Australia. None of the bullshit DINO coddling if you cross the ALP (Australian Labor Party).

Cross over and vote with the Liberals (their version of Ben Nelson type conservative Dems)- and they'll toss your butt right out....

Texan, LBJ.

I'll grant that LBJ was an enforcer, rounding up the troops on issues and dealing tough love when he felt the ranks weren't following.

The difference is that he remain well liked by his peers - and listened to other opinions.

I have found absolutely no evidence that Hillary Clinton is capable of participating in or building a consensus.

From her failed attempts in Arkansas as first lady, failed attempts in Washington as first lady, failed attempts as Senator, failed nomination battle...

she's demonstrated a headstrong, narcisstic, bullying personality that is ineffective.

Leaders have charisma.

She doesn't.

I also think Dodd and Durbin would be good leaders. We need someone from a safe state who is not in danger of losing their seat who can really install some party discipline.

14. Subject line of the OP is a lie
The "dead man" statement was not made by Hillary, it was a threat made by Jim Cooper, the head of Obama's Tennessee campaign, to Lincoln Davis.

I don't get why, if Obama is The Winner, his campaign and supporters are still smearing Hillary. If you have to lie to win, you aren't really winning.
