Why does West Virginia suddenly matter?
Honest question. I thought small states that would most likely go red didn't matter, as per Hillary.

2. Matters just as much as all the other states in the union.
It's a race for pledged delegates, not demographic groups.

3. Because it's not a caucus state
So that makes it different from all those other small red states. Or something.

27. and when she was 9 she wrote a letter asking how she could be a coal miner
Edited on Sat May-10-08 05:34 PM by SoCalDem
if she could not get into astronaut-school, coal miner was her second choice..

she even earned her "coal miner" merit badge in girl scouts when she carved Abraham Lincoln's face into a lump of coal she found...

15. And some of us do our homework.
West Virginia is usually Democratic - 6 of the last 10 presidential elections. I'm puzzled by their Bush love, though.

They can identify with his "I am just the idiot child in a family of smart kids who never made good until I finally got elected president" routine.

13. Oregon has lots of white people, too. So it doesn't matter? Get real
Edited on Sat May-10-08 04:57 PM by McCamy Taylor
The difference between Oregon and West Virginia is Oregon has more white people who are not poor and Virginia has more white people who are poor and I am getting sick and tired of DU blaming poor folks in this country for their own plight.

12. This is a battleground state we can win this fall.
Edited on Sat May-10-08 04:55 PM by McCamy Taylor
Check out how close it has been in previous elections and how many Dems come from West Virginia.

Oregon is also a battleground state.

20. Oregon less so - it should go Dem with either of our candidates
But polling in WV suggests that Hillary would win it in the GE, while Obama would not.

On the other hand, there are states that Obama is projected to win in the GE that Hillary is not. All of this is very premature...but that's what there is to talk about as far as still trying to make a case for one over the other according to electoral projections.

But not BC, Ontario, and Quebec because those provinces would probably sway to Obama.

26. Because she still thinks she can dictate the agenda
There once was a filly, named Hillie
People may have thought it silly
She wanted to win the big race
Which was fine on its face
But she was undone as it all went south
Thanks to Filly Hillie's & Billy's big mouth
