OK - This may rub supporters of HRC the wrong way, but I am wondering like her father that some of these "jobs" the Clinton's are getting are pay-offs to the family. Just like the one Bill got from Vin Gupta! Seems like they just "drop" into their laps. And let me say also I have nothing against Chelsea but I do feel that there are a lot of things that the Clinton's have done in the past that have not been vetted!

This article I found has the facts on this:

Is Chelsea Clinton Hurting the Poor?
Posted at 11:27 Category: Political

http://www.onebigdog.net/is-chelsea-clinton-hurting-the-poor/

Chelsea Clinton works for a hedge fund that was established by friends and supporters of her mother. It is not a stretch to say that the job was a gift to the Clinton family. I don’t begrudge the girl work but I have to ask if she is part of the problem that plagues this country right now?

Chelsea Clinton is taking time off from her job with Avenue Capital Group, a New York hedge fund, to promote the campaign of her mother, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), for the Democratic presidential nomination. The Stanford Daily

John Edwards went after hedge funds and their tax structure but he was associated with one. Hedge funds have been blamed for fueling problems in the sub prime housing markets leading to record foreclosures. Is Chelsea, the daughter of the people’s champion, helping to cause the problems for those who cannot afford their houses?

Another question. Is Chelsea receiving her salary during this time off? If the company is paying her to go around and campaign for her mother, isn’t that a campaign contribution? Is it a violation of FEC rules?

..........

Does anyone have more information on this issue?

3. Hillary and Bill sure have a lot of "friends" who do the very things she talks against!
Just asking! Why should someone that is supposed to be so for the little guy promote this kind of activity?

4. Chelsea has been corrupted like her mother and father.
Edited on Sat May-10-08 02:24 PM by Arrowhead2k1
I will never forget the time she was asked about HER experience in Bosnia, and she tried so hard to cover for her mother by saying she had it all right. After a lot of 'him and hawing' of course.

I hope she doesn't plan on running for anything, ever. I hope she falls back into obscurity after this campaign. Leave the Clinton name in history once and for all.

12. Yeah. Sort of like the time Derbyshire wrote that Chelsea carried
"the taint" and said that he hated her.

We used to condemn that kind of language here. Now the haters shout it and are no better than the right-wingers.

Corrupted indeed. DU has been corrupted by hate and ignorance.

5. Chelsea is a brilliant woman in her own right, but
I have never understood why she took a hedge fund job rather than something that could be spun as a job in the public interest. I'm sure she could have gotten the job on her own, without Mom and Dad's influence. It seems crass compared to most of the Kennnedy kids.

6. In all fairness to Chelsea
She cannot help who her parents are.

Any company who interviewed a person who had a parent that was a former POTUS or in the US Senate would immediately be offered a job.

11. Agree. She is as smart as her mother and as gracious as her dad
Great grades, fast on her feet, I'd hire her for my fund in a second.

10. Giving jobs to the children of one's friends is common in all sectors
of business and industry. Whether Chelsea is still on salary or if that would violate FEC rules, I have no idea.

13. JMO: I don't think this is anything to get excited about....
It would be different if Chelsea had committed a crime and the Clintons used their pull to make sure she wasn't investigated or prosecuted.

But to focus on a job given to her by one of the Clintons' friends or business associates? I don't think it's worthy of focusing on.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

The only thing I'll give her credit for is keeping her trap shut all of these years.

18. When you've got a lifetime of Private Schooling and the money,
Edited on Sat May-10-08 03:18 PM by Arrowhead2k1
people can get pretty damn far in life. Doesn't mean she's 'brilliant' or a cut above the rest. Bush also went to Yale... The point is, I haven't seen her accomplish anything substantial yet to give her the credit of being 'brilliant' other than being fortunate enough to get a quality education that her mom and dad could pay for.

15. obviously she did not earn her spot on that hedge fund
last i remember, she has no mba

it's obviously a gift from friends of family.

its also obvious that her involvement with the hedge fund is nothing more than the hedge fund trying to use her name to help raise capital

19. Yeah. Why wouldn't she want to go into a public life
after spending her childhood watching her parents under continual attack from the right-wing and hearing all the insults the right-wingers aimed at her personally as well? Do you think it hurt her? And now she's being attacked by people within the democratic party because she didn't choose a life serving people who hated her without even knowing her? If I was her, I'd probably have moved to Europe.
