The "57 state" misstatement is a dumb thing to harp on,
much like virtually every other misstatement, or statement blown out of proportion or intentionally mischaracterized, in this campaign.

Candidates are not robots... although that would be kind of cool.

Sincerely,

~Writer the Clinton Supporter~

1. The thing that bothers me the most about it...
is how some are trying to suggest that OBAMA DOESN'T KNOW HOW MANY STATES THERE ARE.
That's not just epic fail, that's colossal fail.

14. "Epic" isn't bigger than "colossal"?
And sure Obama knows how many states there are - now, after having had it pointed out to him.

21. So you're honestly trying to tell me you think Obama didn't know the number of states?
Wow.

12. I think he was just tired and made a misstatement. If it was supposed to be a joke,
he has the comedic skills of a John Kerry and should leave humor to someone else.

him. It was dry humor about how long this primary season has lasted.

25. I thought it was a joke too. He smiled when he said it, and people in the crowd laughed.
If it wasn't a joke, he would have corrected himself after he heard the laughter.

i mean honestly, 57 states?

it was a joke, or he misspoke. does anybody honestly fucking care? i saw a thread made by a clinton supporter who compared obama to dan quayle, who as you may remember was one of the more inept republicans of our time

Come on. Look at the video. What's ridiculous is the neanderthals on rightwing message forums patting themselves on the backs and saying, "Wow, even I know that there are 50 states." Yeah, because I'm sure Obama doesn't know that there are 50 states. Give me a break.

20. It IS dumb.
It's as dumb as it would be if Obama said:

"My opponent says she's more capable of winning votes from white people than I am. Well, I think I've proven that I can win votes from people whether they're black, white, brown, red, yellow or green with purple polka dots."

and his opponents said "GREEN WITH PURPLE POLKA DOTS?? There's NO SUCH THING as GREEN PEOPLE WITH PURPLE POLKA DOTS!! Doesn't he KNOW there is NO SUCH THING as GREEN PEOPLE WITH PURPLE POLKA DOTS?? Either he is STUPID or he is LYING!! I CHALLENGE him to find a SINGLE person who has voted for him who is actually GREEN WITH PURPLE POLKA DOTS!! That's just ABSURD!!!!"

37. LOL
and if Clinton had said it, there'd be 100 threads on how she's lost it, how she's gone insane, how she's stupid, ignorant and borderline retarded.

He made an error - a sort of funny one. Of course he's gonna take some ribbing over it.

At least nobody's twisting it into something else, like is done to Clinton here daily. Like saying she said "vote for me, I'm white". THAT'S desperate.
