Springfield OH impromptu K/E stop
What kind of town is Springfield? Looks like a pretty good crowd, since it wasn't even planned. From the blog:

At a parking lot in Springfield, OH more than 800 people came out to just to say hi during an impromptu stop on the “Believe in America” tour. John Kerry and John Edwards decided to speak to the crowd so a pickup truck was driven in to serve as the stage.

3. Stop. Just stop.
Just stop EVERYWHERE.

This is the real way to create grassroots, kitchen-table support. Let the Chimp and his handlers vet their Selected Worthies down to their DNA level.

This is the stuff that wins elections, the removal of all barriers.

5. My hometown.
Clinton came to Springfield in 1992, and we all know how that turned out. :)

The city itself is pretty industrial. Or, at least, it was. Lots of unemployment in Springfield, and lots of resentment at the policies which have exacerbated the situation.

7. I went down to Bowling Green, OH
today for a Kerry/Edwards appearance. Got into it with some Hitler Youth and a couple of anti abortion people who couldn't answer my question, "How can you be pro life when innocent children are being killed in Iraq?" The Hitler Youth were excited about the prospect of a draft, they said. Let's see when the time comes.

Kerry/Edwards were supposed to appear in an intersection in the middle of town. I was in the longest line I have ever seen about a quarter of a mile away. After the police came and moved us once, the Secret Service told us to move again about a half mile south. We were getting ready to move when another official told us that we won't be able to see anything, and it was doubtful that we would hear anything. After hearing that, I left.

Whoever was in charge of the logistics failed miserably. There just wasn't enough room to accommodate such a large crowd (and it was a huge crowd!). They should have held it in BGSU's football stadium which has ample parking and space.

I will try to catch K/E when they come back this way, hopefully before 11/2.

8. Well, The Bad News Is the Advance Planning
The good news is that I think the crowds are so much more massive than any good advance person could have planned on.
Sorry, you did not get to see them. :-(
