With Oregon's demographics, why can't Hillary win there?
She also lost Washington and Idaho.

28. Oh yah. Them lumberjacks wouldn't be caught out in the woods without their lattes.
Of course I live in rural Oregon, so I don't really see much in the way of latte out here. (I heard tell it's some kind of fancy coffee, but you couldn't prove it by me.)

Oh, and for the record, this retired, rural, white, male, jeans and flannel-shirt Oregonian is supporting Obama.

(Yes, that's the most important thing to me.)

EDIT: And yah - from the bus system to the renovation of what's-the-name-of-that-part-of-town, it does seem astonishingly competently thought out.

35. Unless you're homeless. They just fully implemented the "sit-lie" law without
making good on their promises to make safe spaces for the homeless folks. Still plenty of bigots in OR, which once had a strong KKK. Read up on the Vanport flood sometime. :eyes:

19. Oregon has a pretty good grassroots Obama movement
I've lived in the state for most of my life, but spent the last 4+ years outside the US. The area that I grew up in, Southern Oregon, has a very strong group of people. Up in Portland (where I spent the last 11 years before I moved abroad) there is also huge number of strong Obama supporters committed to get people out to vote for him. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he won Oregon by 12%.

who are socially liberal but moderate on economic issues and who look at Hillary pandering on the gas tax as old politics and like Obama's stand. And finally, yes--not as many bigots.

36. Because my brother lives there...
along with my SIL, my first time voting age nephew, my 86 year old mother and the spirit of my father (who died in December pissed that he wouldn't get to vote this year).

They all promised me they'd carry Oregon for Senator Obama in th primary and again in the general. I'm holding them to their words. (except Dad, he gets a pass if it goes badly).
