Want to know a huge problem we have? The convention dates
Edited on Fri May-09-08 08:25 AM by theboss
In 2004, the convention ended on July 29th.

This year, the convetion will end on August 28th.

If Hillary takes this battle all the way to the convention, whichever nominee emerges bloody and battered from Denver will have just over 2 months to campagin as "the nominee." And he or she will probably have to spend all that time mending bridges with the candidate who loses.

Meanwhile, McCain has been in general election/mending bridges mode for over a month already. He will have had essentially a 6-month head start.

Moreover, the Republican National Convention is Septembr 1 through September 4. So whatever nominee comes out of the convention is going to run into a de facto news blackout on their campaign and then have to deal with whatever bogus "bounce" McCain gets from 4 days of stories of his POW past and his "Maverick" present.

My prediction: If this goes to the convention, whoever comes out of it is going to be down 11 points or more on September 5th.

5. MLK "I have a dream" speech August 28, 1963 DNC convention August 25–28, 2008
"I Have A Dream" is the popular name given to the historic public speech by Martin Luther King, Jr., when he spoke of his desire for a future where blacks and whites among others would coexist harmoniously as equals. King's delivery of the speech on August 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Feb. 10, 2007 -- Illinois Sen. Barack Obama formally launched his candidacy for the White House here this morning, invoking memories of Abraham Lincoln and challenging a new generation of Americans to help bridge political divisions and transform the nation.

And on August 28 2008, he will be giving his acceptance speech as the Democratic Nominee to begin his final run at the Whitehouse

2. It couldn't be clearer it's not going to the convention. Hilly is more than
broke, she's deeply in debt. If she doesn't get paid back for her personal loans by the convention she doesn't get her 11+ million back. SDs will put Obama over the top by June 15th. Hill is done.
