Hillary Implies that Barack Supporters are Lazy Brown People and Snooty White People
Get a load of this crap...

"...Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans--white Americans--is weakening again, and how the whites in both states
who had not completed college were supporting me..."

And Obama supporters are supposed to think that he can't win without this as his VP?

1. There are no states
with large AA groups...at this point it isn't about winning...its about getting revenge for losing.

She can keep that up...her microphone is going to be taken away if she does.

7. hmmm...and who is going to deny her right to free speech?
That doesn't portend well for an Obama administration. Silencing critics and opponents?

15. Nobody will take away her right to free speech. We can, however, take away her microphone
and podium. The Democratic party doesn't need to give a platform to every deluded race-baiting also-ran.

34. you don't speak for the Democratic Party
Virtually half support Hillary. Some haven't even voted yet.

These fascist-leaning remarks sure aren't going to help Obama unite the party.

19. She can say whatever she wants
However it will not be as a potential nominee for the Presidency.

It will be as the Senator from NY.

2. To be fair, there is another way to interpret her statement
I don't like the sound of the statement above, but there are multiple ways to interpret it. It looks like she might have said "hard working Americans" and then clarified "white Americans" to make it clear that she WASN'T saying that blacks don't work hard. If she had said "support among hard working Americans" and NOT added "white Americans", it would have implied that his black supporters are not hard-working Americans.

The statement was tacky, but the way I first read it was the way I described above. I can't listen to the audio because I am at work, so someone who can should check and see if it sounded like she interjected "white" to clarify.

22. I tend to see both sides of most issues. People hate me for it.
But it's one of the reasons I find Obama so appealing. He is generally progressive but has the tendency to want to hear all sides of an issue and often seems to genuinely sympathize with both points of view, and to sympathize with an opposing point even if he doesn't agree with it.

I'm the same way and sometimes it drives people crazy. My best friend will complain to me about another friend and will want me to get all indignant on her behalf and I'll try to see her friend's point of view as well as hers and it drives her nuts. But I think it's a good quality that has served me well for the most part, and I think it will serve Barack well as president.

So I won't apologize for not being an unapologetic Clinton hater or for trying to see her side. That doesn't mean I have never gotten riled up and said bad things about her...I was furious when I saw her ad in PA calling Obama out of touch and I admit that I got sucked into the Mickey Kantor thing last week because I was desperate for a Clinton scandal that would get the media to shut up about Reverend Wright. But I am ashamed of my behavior last week and I think that's why I am being more cautious before jumping on Clinton for her statement today.

That being said, her statement was tacky, and I do feel that she for some time now has essentially been making the argument to superdelegates, implictly if not explictly, that she's more "electable" because she's white. Even if she's right that some people won't vote for Obama because he's black, I don't think that justifies taking away from him what he's rightly earned at this point. Instead of trying to convince superdelegates that he's unelectable, at this point she should be helping to ensure that he's electable by encouraging her supporters to support him if he's the nominee. She has started doing that a little bit, and I hope to see a lot more of that language in the next few weeks, whether or not she stays in the race.

24. Sometimes it's good to just get fucking angry when someone does something terrible--
and Hillary deliberately injecting race into the campaign, at this late date, for self-serving reasons, should make any Obama supporter see RED right now. She's trying to ensure his loss in the fall to McCain, by making him unappealing to certain classes (he's an elitist!) and to whites. She doesn't deserve to be in the Dem party.

28. I'm not saying I'm not angry about her statement
I just don't necessarily think she meant that black people don't work hard. But it was an offensive statement either way.

38. It is a different interpretation, but is it a correct one?
Hillary is clearly trying to find the right words, but why? If she wanted to, she could have said "working class white Americans." That would have been factual, direct, and simple to understand.

I', taking her comment in the greater context developed by the interview, and in related comments by her staff and supporters.

23. link HERE (also audio) these words came from HER LIPS
http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/

Update at 8:45 a.m. ET: The political blogosphere -- particularly the liberal side -- is starting to react to Clinton's comments. Pam Spaulding at Pam's House Blend calls Clinton's words "race-baiting." ELROD at The Moderate Voice says it was "an appalling gaffe that goes well beyond (Barack Obama's) Bittergate comment." The Jed Report writes that "Clinton is making these comments to get attention. Her campaign is broke and she needs free media. She knows that the press loves to cover conflict, especially this kind of conflict. She's serving up raw meat on a platter, consequences be damned." Memeorandum has more links.

Update at 10:55 a.m. ET: Jerome Armstrong at the liberal MyDD.com thinks Clinton's comments were benign as far as race goes, but many of the commenters at his site apparently disagree.

Hillary can't get over reflexive, compulsive projection and she doesn't see how it's hurting her.

Hillary herself is an elitist egghead. Personally, I don't take that as a negative nor do I hold that against her. She's wealthy, powerful, well-educated and smart as a whip, but one side of her personality or ego seems to be winning the battle against rationality.

At this point, she seems truly unwell.

I'm waiting for the Angry Egghead backlash.

I heard her citing an Associated Press article... do you have a link to the article? Is what she is saying taken out of context? If she is factually stating demographic stats from the AP, how is she implying what you claim?

Sorry, but the information provided is simply not enough to arrive at an implication, much less a conclusion.

More info, please.
