Am I the only one dreading how Hillary Clinton will spin her West Virginia win?
I'm dreading next Tuesday. I'm sure that the night that she wins West Virginia will be spun by HRC as breathing new life into her campaign. I imagine that she'll address a huge victory rally and the confetti will drop. The balloons will drop. etc. She'll say something like "West Virginia has made me the comeback kid." The media will eagerly "note" our likely nominee not being able to connect with working class whites in a "swing" state. We'll hear how one can never count out Hillary Clinton and that the nomination isn't over yet. Maybe she'll announce a whole bunch of superdelegates the day after her win to try to create a false sense of momentum. She'll make some arguments about critical working class whites again I'm sure.

This nonsense will drag on for a week. When Clinton wins Kentucky on May 20th, we'll hear it even more. When Senator Obama wins Oregon big though and gets a majority of pledged delegates, the spin will stop fast and hard but still I'm not looking forward to West Virginia. What can he do to fight this perception?

CNN is already advertising that their West Virginia primary coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET next Tuesday and they are calling it a critical primary. This is going to be bad. Mississipi has more delegates than West Virginia but only got a couple of hours of coverage. I hope W.V. is the same. If not.......

Maybe Senator Obama can have a huge endorsement on Wednesday of next week to stop any sense of false momentum?

I'm so sick of this.

2. Who cares? It means virtually nothing except if you live in West Virginia.
Ask Chuck Todd, mathematically its done. Superdelegates are going to break towards Obama. No scandels surfacing.

4. Exactly
And we're deluding ourselves to not expect Hillary Clinton to have a huge victory celebration next week.

5. Clinton News Network is going all out for her, as usual, but nobody gives
a rat's ass about West Virginia, same as nobody gave a rat's ass about the states that "didn't matter" when Obama won them: Utah, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, Vermont, etc.

9. I expect it will happen, but I don't think it will mean anything
Here's what I wrote yesterday: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5867437&mesg_id=5867437

I don't think there is any way Hillary will drop out before June 10th. Even if she wanted to, she will feel compelled to stay in for the sake of her supporters. The damage that has been done by this elongated season has peaked and any chance she had to win is over; her supporters will need some time to accept this and the supers will allow the remaining handful of states to vote, lest they take offense at being marginalized. In terms of the party, the best time for Hillary to drop out was after the Potomac primaries -- divisions have only increased then. However, her supporters will need closure and that will only occur after the remaining states vote; she needs to stay in now and the supers need to hold off from securing the nomination for Obama.

10. She'll call on the 'white homelands' to secede from the Union, I suspect
and make her their warrior-Queen/President.
