Who were the 150+ superdelegates that pledged to Hillary before the primary started?
Edited on Wed May-07-08 07:31 PM by thewiseguy
I like to know their names and their affiliation with the Clintons. Why they endorsed her so early before even the primaries started?

If these superdelegates were concerned about causing a rift among their own constituency why have they not reversed their pledge yet?

Obviously these superdelegates were not concerned about what the voters thought. So why should they be waiting until June 3 to reverse their pledge? After months and months of primaries and given Obama's advantage among states won, pledge delegates won, and popular vote won; the fact that he still trails Hillary among superdelegates is a shameful thing for the democratic party.

The name of those superdelegates who endorsed Hillary before the process even started must be made public.

3. They were friends, loyal Democrats, party leaders, people unafraid to take a side upfront
What do you want, a McCarthy-like witch hunt for known fellow travelers of the Clintons? Jesus, since when did we become sore winners in this party?

Obama's getting the nomination and he did so on his own terms. Why can't you just be happy about that?

5. I would like to see their names and why they have stuck with her eventhough she is not going to win?
Obviously these fellows were not interested to see how people vote so why are they still pledging to her?

11. Some people will not be happy until
they string Hillary up by her toe nails and then do the same to anyone who ever liked her or voted for her or were a committed delegate for her, etc. It is like the Salem Witch Trials all over again. Sickening.

6. Superdelegates are not obligated to vote with their constituency...
...for about the millionth time said on DU.

I'm not saying that's right, but that's the way it is.

9. Yeah, but them's not the rules.
And they are changing their votes.

No conspiracy or true outrage here.

They could show up at the convention and cast their votes for Steven Colbert and it would be perfectly legal.

12. IIUC some have switched to Obama.
SDs want to endorse a winner. At the time, hillary was the clear favorite, far in front of the rest of the candidates. The SDs thought they were backing a winner. Some were longtime friends and supporters of hillary and/or the DLC. Anyway, who the fuck cares? Obama has almost tied up the SDs, and a sizeable majority of the still uncommitted SDs will endorse him eventually.
