Obama-Rendell??
From first glance, it seems so unlikely (for several reasons) as Ed Rendell is a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter, but if Obama ends up the nominee, this actually is not a bad ticket...

It would absolutely guarantee Obama would win PA (he probably could carry it anyway, as Allegheny (Pittsburgh) & Philadelphia counties always vote overwelmingly Democrat), but this clinches PA......

All I give a shit about is BEATING McBush....Rendell delivers a state we must have (well, put it this way, we must have PA or OH)....Democrats usually fare better in PA...

Other than being a great wide reciever for the Steelers he had no political experience...plus Santorum was running that year so turnout was larger and angrier than usual.

Rendell brings the voters Obama already gets.

6. The only problem with Rendell
is that he's a douchebag. The thing about running mates is that you have to consider the possibility, however remote, that the VP could become the president. I don't want a president who leaves a slime trail when he walks.

26. What a slap in the face that would be to the Dem politicians who endorsed Obama!....
While Clarke was playing it safe, wanting to remain palsy with the powerful Clintons, other Dem politicians like Richardson stood up for what was right and endorsed Obama.

Why would Obama want to choose someone as VP who Obama would always have to always watch his own back?

Also, the foundation of OBama's campaign is changing politics in D.C. If he chose someone who endorsed Hillary's ROve/Bush politics, he would make a lie of the very foundation of his campaign.

Screw Clarke. He's a weakling who wanted to remain pals with the powerful Clintons, and supported their use of politics that are actually worse than Bush/Rove.

He's covered in the filth of the Clinton campaign, and he should suffer the consequences of becoming a political leper.

I have a higher opinion of him I guess. I don't know that there are all that many eager to be VP. There are lots of other spots. But if Richardson wants it that should be strongly considered but hard choices will have to be made.

21. Not this time. I do want a female VP or Pres - but this time the best person running happens to be
a male african american. He needs a moderate white male to help him. Clark would be ideal with his military experience. You can't just decide you want a woman for the sake of having one, you have to strategize to find the best person against McCain. But I do hope to see a female pres. in my lifetime. Perhaps it will be Chelsea.

15. Good Lord, NO. With all of the great politicans who supported Obama...
why would Obama choose a politician who had joined in Hillary's pig-slop Rove/Bush politics against Obama?

It would be a real slap in the face to the Dem politicians who took the risk, stood up to the Clintons and their vindictiveness, and endorsed Obama.

It doesn't take a Hillary toady as VP to "unite" the Dems, but it IS a real quick way to sink Obama.

57. Obama wants to win
but not at the expense of why he's running.

I strongly believe his VP choice(s) would first and foremost, HAVE TO COMPLIMENT his campaign in the areas of honesty and integrity.
Secondly, his VP CANNOT be someone easily viewed as untrustworthy, politics as usual or divisive.

And third, his VP should enhance him in areas that are (or may be) perceived as crucial stumblingblocks in casting a vote for an Obama presidency.

These criterias I believe are absolutes in his considerations.

Thus, Hillary, Rendell and the like, needless to say but I'll say it anyway...HELL to the NO!
