Hell, it is less than 4 weeks left, let her stay in!!!!
Edited on Wed May-07-08 06:38 PM by Vote2008
Ok, after a day to cool off, I have changed my mind about Hillary. Let her stay in until June 3rd.

The last two elections are June 3rd. Less than 4 weeks away!!

We waited 7 freaking weeks for PA. And there was NOTHING going on at that point. Over the next 4 weeks we have 6 more contests.

I am 99% sure she will not trash Obama in the next 4 weeks. She can talk issues. She can attack McCain. Hell, she can make some money. And Obama can introduce himself to 6 states of voters. Run some ads on the TV. Greet large crowds and pull a lot closer in the polls in the states Hillary is 30 points ahead in. And Obama gets experience in those states and motivates kids and volenteers for the general election.

And then Obama will not lose any states to a candidate who droped out of the race. Which would look bad.

And maybe in the next month we can seat half the delegates for Florida and Michigan and split them 50/50 between Obama and Hillary. She has no choice at this point. If she whines the SDs can run her out of the contest quick.

After June 3rd Hillary will have NO path to the nomination and the Supers can make a decision on June 3rd without pissing off any Hillary supporters by going with him early.

And if she acts up in the next four weeks and trashed Obama I can guarantee the SDs will move to Obama quick and end it.

Let he stay in the race. It hurts no one if Hillary behaves.

1. She can stay in as long as she is cool.
If she starts acting up, then she's got to go. I want the Dr. Jekyll that I like, not Mrs. Hyde.

24. She continues to rack up campaign debt that she expects Obama to pay for.
Money he should be using in the GE. She needs to get with the program.

2. She'll probably stay in until it's mathematically improbable that she could win.
Some say it is already mathematically improbable that she will win, but I think Hillary's tolerance for improbability is higher than that regardless of what I think or others think.

15. Exactly. Until there are no routes that she could possibly take to win,
she will stay in.

Many here (and on the radio/tv) say she's out of the game completely, but I can foresee some random crap happening that could possibly land her the nomination.

Remember, nobody thought it was possible for GW to "win" Florida either, until the SC stepped in and gave it to him.

I'm not saying she SHOULD or SHOULD NOT drop out, just that there is still a couple of scenarios left where she could take it.

3. I tend to agree
if she wants to stay in for the whole race, that's fine - as long as she leaves the personal attacks out of it.

That's a big "if"
So far, she has made one effective Republican TV ad for the fall, the one about "experience". How many more can she come up with?

She is like the bat-shit crazy aunt you have to put up with at family reunions. If she would just get worked up about something else and get out of our faces, that is the best we can hope for.

4. I'm enjoying it... and looking forward to Oregon putting him over the top
Plus don't we all want to learn about Puerto Rico in depth... I loved the virtual trip to Guam. Who knew Dededo was a Clinton stronghold, for instance. LOL

5. Do not take pity on the vampire
One must drive a stake through the heart AND shoot it with a pure silver bullet.

Otherwise, you might get one of these come mid-summer.

Field Reporter: Are they slow-moving, chief?
Sheriff McClelland: Yeah, they're dead. They're all messed up.

(take note, I refer to Hillary's campaign here, not Hillary herself).

6. Look at the argument she & the minions are pushing HARD: Obama isn't electable... why...?
Because he's black. Her supporters here come and outright say that. The surrogates on TV and the shrew herself are a bit less forthright, but the argument is that, exactly that.

Tell me how that isn't harmful and divisive to this country. I would agree with you, if she weren't pushing her racist meme.

8. Hate to say it, but where I live, being black is still a big issue. I live in Mississippi.
Hillary isn't racist if she is saying that being black running for president is a handicap. She's speaking a truism, as far as I'm concerned.

For the record, I think Hillary is going down to defeat, and I think Obama is going to beat McCain despite the latent racism, but I also realize racism is still a very real, very ugly thing that haunts this country.

11. So is she arguing that sexism doesn't exist?
Edited on Wed May-07-08 07:03 PM by wileedog
That should be news to some of her followers.

Sure the racial crowd is picking the white woman over the black man, but what when happens when it is the white woman vs. the white 'war hero' man with the 'beer and shot while we duck hunt' group?

Point is, she has a 'handicap' too. And we also shouldn't be picking our candidates based on it if we are who we think we are.

20. I agree it exists. I think the election of a black President will go FAR to heal and mend
some of these old rifts and stereotypes. I think it is antithetical to everything the Democratic Party (and common human decency) stands for to play on people's racist fears and use it as an argument for electability or lack thereof.

To my mind, Hillary is handicapped because she is a corporatist, a warmonger, a liar and an underhanded opportunist. But Obama isn't campaigning on HER handicaps.

9. Why won't she trash Obama some more? Let's hope she doesn't insult
his supporters as she has done because there are now a lot of Obama supporters in NY and she may need them to run again.

17. As long as she plays nice.
I've noticed a trend in the polls. When Hillary is playing nice Obama's poll numbers soar. When she is playing dirty they fall. Her numbers don't really move.

And continue to rack up debt so Obama can pay it and have less money for the general election.

19. Only if she does not ask Obama's donors to pay for her extended stay.
As an Obama donor, I do not want Hillary to run up more debts and expect us to bail her out
at the end of her campaign. Let her stay in only if she can fund her own continued campaign.
