Dianne Feinstein: Reaching the point now of negative dividends; wants Hillary's game plan

Feinstein to ask Clinton for her primary game plan

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), one of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) most prominent Senate supporters, said Wednesday that she will ask the former first lady to detail her plans for the rest of the Democratic primary.

“I, as you know, have great fondness and great respect for Sen. Clinton and I’m very loyal to her,” Feinstein said. “Having said that, I’d like to talk with her and her view on the rest of the race and what the strategy is.”

Clinton, who eked out a win in Indiana Tuesday night but lost big to front-runner Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in North Carolina, has not responded to Feinstein’s phone call, the California senator said.

“I think the race is reaching the point now where there are negative dividends from it, in terms of strife within the party,” Feinstein said. “I think we need to prevent that as much as we can.”

Tuesday night’s results are widely viewed as a blow to Clinton’s hopes after she failed to deliver a “game-changing” performance. Instead, Obama extended his leads among delegates and popular votes.

Feinstein stressed that Clinton is not an “also-run candidate,” but added that there is a question “as to whether she can get the delegates that she needs. I’d like to see what the strategy is and then we can talk further.”

1. That's my senator. Thanks, Diane.
I respect both her original choice to support Hillary, and her willingness to consider the overall good fo the party. I'm proud she's my Senator.

29. Imperfect, but I still respect her. I am not boosting for her.
I'm just saying that I respect her decision to endorse Hillary and the fact that she is also willing to face electoral reality.

25. Well, that makes one of us.
This is the first thing she's said in a loooong time that shows me she's capable of thinking. We are flush with white, super-rich, Hillsborough biddies representing us in DC. I'm sick of all of them.

WOW!

Feinstein stressed that Clinton is not an “also-run candidate,” but added that there is a question “as to whether she can get the delegates that she needs. I’d like to see what the strategy is and then we can talk further.”

Get the fork. Di Fi doesn't talk....she gives orders. She is the HIT WOMAN.

that allows everyone's dignity to remain intact. That would be a good outcome.

26. Well since DiFi has already given her support to HRC, she is being ignored
However, if DiFi had been undecided HRC would be all over her to get her endorsement.

So, in essence since Hillary has DiFi's endorsement HRC can give DiFi the brush off. OOPS, the pitfalls of loyalty and pledging oneself early on, DiFi has NO leverage.

6. I REALLY hope Feintein suffers the Hillary taint.....
She has, like Hillary, supported the neocon agenda in Congress more than she's supported what serves the best interests of the American people.

I hope Hillary stays long enough to make ALL ofher politician supporters suffer the consequences of supporting Bush/Rove tactics.

http://www.answers.com/topic/also-ran

1. A horse that does not win, place, or show in a race.
2. A loser in a competition, as in an election: “had enough support to place him in the middle of the also-rans” (George F. Will).
3. One that has little talent or success: just an also-ran in the art world.

21. There are also a pretty large number
of undeclared superdelegates in CA. IT's interesting that they haven't been coming forward for Clinton even though she won CA. Lots of waiting going on in CA.

What a diference a few weeks make.

32. Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, Emmanuel - heroes to Obama supporters
Edited on Wed May-07-08 05:18 PM by OzarkDem
interesting how all the conservative, Bush protecting Dem leaders in Congress that everyone on this forum vilified for the last year are now considered good folks - simply because they back Obama.

Remember how we raged at them for failing to investigate wiretapping, Plamegate, torture and Bush/Cheney crimes? Remember how we cursed them for prolonging the war in Iraq and giving Bush a blank check to do as he wished?

Shouldn't that tell you something? That Obama is closer to their failed political beliefs than Clinton?

Does this mean Obama supporters now support torture, the Iraq War, GOP destruction of the Constitution, spying on Americans, and letting the Bush administration walk away unscathed and unprosecuted for their war crimes?

Does it mean Obama supporters will look the other way when Obama condones the same beliefs?

Guess so. This is how it happens folks. Watch who your getting into bed with.
