Obama made another big mistake today
I think he believe he would do the honorable thing and give Hillary a chance to reflect and do the right thing and drop out.

Instead Hillary is doing the opposite.

Where Obama made a mistake was he should have been making all the Appearances on all the network shows today. Got out and carried that momentum from his big win last night. Just like Hillary did after the Ohio and PA wins. Instead all the media is being dominated by the Hillary spin.

Why wouldnt he have taking advantage of the big night and carried the news? You cant take anything for granted against the Clintons. Plus it would have showed that he is the front runner and Nominee.

Big Mistake on his part.

6. He has got to be exhausted.
Every word he speaks has to be measured before it is uttered because she will use a misspeak to her advantage. Give the man a break.

4. At this point, he just needs to let her finish the job.
Her campaign is hanging itself. I wouldn't get in their way.

15. Sure. And I bet the campaign has figured they can take
a break after such a big win. They're going to need it. :)

5. I disagree with you, and here's why.....
The media is talking about Hillary's failure with the math, her financial woes, and the fact that he is in fact more than less the nominee of the Democratic party.

Obama didn't need to step on that message, and he didn't need to be the one pushing that Hillary should drop out. He doesn't need to add insult to injury. That's how much class he shows to a fellow Democrat.

Plus, he needed some rest in order to be even more effective when he comes out ready to rumble with John McCain.

That's my view on your Op.

8. I think you're wrong
The race will be different from here on out. Everyone knows Hillary cannot win. Expect her to change her focus to November. Expect negative comments about Obama to cease. I think Obama understands this - they probably have spoken to one another.

If Clinton does not change her strategy, superdelegates will force her hand. That will be ugly, and a lose/lose for everyone. Theres just a month left, there's no reason for her to drop out. And FL and MI delegates should be seated, that will help heal rifts in those states.

Bottom line : Obama has the nomination, and nothing can stop that now. I think Hillary understands that, as well. She should at least be allowed the dignity of finishing her campaign, so that she can support Obama from a position of strength for the general. We do not want Hillary approaching from a position of weakness, with her supporters feeling disenfranchised.

It's precisely because he's now inevitable that he can afford to let Clinton remain in the race. To do otherwise would be even more damaging.

how hard is that to understand?

He needed a day off to be with his wife and family.

That was probably more important than anything else he could be doing today.

Right now, he's in Chicago enjoying some well deserved down time.

14. Civility in a candidate for a member of the same party - Not your average politician
Not pandering for a gas tax wasn't average either - I sure hope honesty and rationale discourse can win elections - because I sure hate what politicians seem to become....

17. The results speak for themselves and voters are tired of being told what to think
or what is true and what is not. Obama knows people are smart enough to figure it out by themselves. And, frankly, it's a turn-off when HRC seems to gloat, so why would you want him to do that.

Everything is going to be OK....

Take a break, like Obama might be doing today.

Is that the media spin your referring to? It's almost like a slow funeral procession and I respect Obama for taking the day off out of respect for the dead. Peace.

20. I disagree - he's smart not to step in the way of the Clinton "postmortem"
Because he knows last night has put it out of any reasonable reach for Hillary, and the MSM is finally starting to at least acknowledge the numbers.

All the spin they can muster in Hillary's favor isn't going to change that, and if the idea of the nuclear option was only a trial balloon, the Clinton campaign know the SDs don't like it and will make it painful if they really try to exercise it.

I'm in favor of letting her play this out until the primaries are complete, provided that her campaign stops going on the attack. If they can't manage that, then let the Supers send the message that she should wrap it up.

On my TV it was a bunch of talking scheads who couldnt
hide their astonishment that Hillary was still running
when the cliff has disappeared under her.
