That is why he is winning!! Only "Black People" are voting for him. I'll be dammed. I thought the number was closer to 12% of the population. I guess I am wrong!

I think Obama did secure the black vote entirely mainly because Hillary managed to alienate that segment so well. Remember Bill and Geraldine's comments? That's exactly how you LOSE the black vote. Oh and going off on Reverend Wright and his 'kooky black church' didn't help her either with that segment. The black vote was hers to lose and she LOST it!

6. FINALLY...
Thanks KansasVoter for pointing this out. Please take note Hillary camp...For Obama to be leading in pledged delegates and popular vote he had to have had at least 4 white people vote for him. I was one of them...and a woman to boot! Will the other 3 white people please stand up to be counted?

15. Not sure what they are saying. But it doesn't make sense whatever it is.
I am not sure exactly what HRC's campaign is getting at when they discuss the demographics of the electorate. But here's what I do know:

Four years ago Al SHarpton, an African American man, was on the ballot in many of the Democratic primaries. He got 3 percent of the total vote in Virginia; 5 percent in Maryland; 5 percent in Mississippi; 10 percent in SOuth Carolina. Even in DC, he finished second to a white candidate.

So it would seem that HRC's team should be asking themselves -- why can't we do as well with white and AA voters as other white Democrats have done running against an AA candidate?

13. What struck me today, during Hillary's press conference, was the
Edited on Wed May-07-08 01:03 PM by redstate_democrat
fact that she basically said the Democratic party can COUNT on Black voters, Obama's supporters basically, but the party could NOT count on her voters.

So she basically said that black people will be with the party no matter what, no matter if we steal it, they will be with us, but if we put up this black man, my voters, the regaen democrats, will not be with us because they can go to McCain.

As if black voters can't go to McCain.

I think she is looking at this situation with a VERY naive eye. Who is giving her advice on this? Mark Penn, Terry McAuliffe? They are REALLY underestimating black people this time. I was STRUCK by this.

She actually was trying to make the case that her voters are more valuable because they will switch their support to McCain if she is not the nominee and that OBama's supporters, all black voters apparently?, will be here anyway so don't worry about them.

That is highly insulting and if the Dems were to rely on this tortured logic, they will find themselves regretting it for generations. There is a difference of winning something fair and square and having it taken from you and not winning it outright and having to accept it. She seems not to understand this.

EDIT: And since she basically admitted that black voters are the most LOYAL part of the Democratic base, why would she intentionally piss it off, drive it away, alienate it, and dismiss it, to basically guarantee a Republican president in the fall? Is she crazy?
