HRC Campaign New Metric : Dirt****** McCauliffe "last night we won 90% of the territory"
On MSNBC with Andre Mitchell

He was talking about winning the vast rural areas and said quoting exactly "last night we won 90% of the territory"

Terry McCauliffe "last night we won 90% of the territory"
So now the new metric is ----- dirt

Now Alaska is more important that New York.

Would somebody with graphic capabilities do a map of the US and show the Clinton campaign that the Obama campaign has indeed won more dirt.

More votes
More delegates
More primaries
More caucuses
More donors
More money
More Governors endorsing
More Senators endorsing
More Reps endorsing

but if you want to get us really angry just don't go there because god dammit WE GOT MORE DIRT.

39. I don't think the territorial argument measures up nationally...
Edited on Wed May-07-08 01:00 PM by calipendence
Clinton vs. McCain:

Obama vs. McCain:

And if you looked at the territories of states that Obama has won vs. Clinton, I think you'd find a similar ratio.

McCauliffe, we're not measuring territory when it is most "convenient" for you. We're talking about winning the nomination, and then the general election where it counts and following the rules on how those elections are counted.

50. I believe the one I posted was the map from 2004.
I was basicaly trying to make the point that this argument is as stupid now as it was in 2004, when the Republicans used it to argue that their mandate was much larger than was reflected in the results of the election.

54. Yes.. Territory arguments are stupid. I was just noting that in a different context...
the same argument they try to use to promote Clinton being the "stronger" candidate in Indiana, could be used against her when looking at the nation as a whole. In other words, as you point out, territorial strength is a useless measure.

That is the exact same argument used by bush* in 2000.
Remember all those maps that showed "Red" area dominating "blue" to prove that bush* really won even though Gore had more votes? I think it says a lot about a campaign when it equates land ownership and wealth with voting power.

17. You know,
I was so ready and willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, to exit gracefully - even after Kentucky and Oregon. That is more than fair. But, she is just so freakin' clueless. And, this MO of continuing to pick at white versus black voting and other key points is really starting to tick me off. "I'm better". "I can get whites and hispanics."

OK, now she just brought up the RFK assassination as the justification for her continuing in the race. What a horrible loser she is.

I'm done with her completely. I want the Obama campaign to go "Hardball" on her and pull out all the stops. If she won't face reality on her own, someone's going to have to make her face it.

18. the dirt always votes rightwing
since it is dumber than a rock. Haven't you ever seen the email showing that Bush won way more dirt than Gore and so the election didn't really overturn the will of the majority of the voters. Look at all the square miles that Bush won. We need to change the laws to make it one vote per acre instead of one person one vote. I agree with this, since I own 5.5 acres. I may need to check my figures though, that may be a lower percentage of the total US acreage than my vote is of the total US vote.

You might also include a picture of that knight without limbs in Monty Python and the Holy Grail shouting, "I'll bite your legs off!" Camp Clinton is still living with the delusion that "none shall pass" her, with Terry McAuliffe as Head Cheerleader.

I'll say it again: they no longer anger me. I truly feel sorry for them and will continue to feel sorry for them until she confronts reality and drops out.

44. Okay, let's see if this is true or not
Using this map, and mentally shading Indiana and North Carolina the appropriate shades of green and purple...

Okay, Clinton's states and area in square miles:

California: 163,696
Arizona: 113,998
New Mexico: 121,589
Oklahoma: 69,898
Arkansas: 53,179
Tennessee: 42,143
Indiana: 36,418
Ohio: 44,825
Pennsylvania: 46,055
New York: 54,556
New Jersey: 8,721
Massachusettes: 10,555

Total: 765,633 square miles, if I did my math right.

Obama:
Alaska: 663,267
Texas: 268,581

Oh, wait, those two states in total have 931,848 square miles.

931,848>765,633

Obama wins.

What's next, calculating the total mass of Clinton voters versus Obama voters?

74. Soylent Green is PEOPLE! Not acres.
Good Lord, is there anything less rational than using sparsely populated areas as your definition of winning a contest?

Ain't prairie dogs voting in these elections.

87. Obama might win the 'land area' argument
I made a similar post yesterday calling it something like the 'square milage of counties won' metric, but came to the conclusion that Obama might actually win this new metric. He won Alaska and either won or is favored to win a lot of those western states with low populations. Hillary's campaign doesn't even bother to check to see if they win these new metrics that they're proposing.

History will not judge her campaign kindly. Everything they are saying will be documented for the books. Everybody who has written a book about Hillary Clinton must love her campaign, because it just gives them more to write about in the future.

Its not about votes or delegates anymore, the new democracy measures its support in square feet. Thanks grant, several laughs were had today.
